When I replaced the lamp (because the picture was going dark) the technician neglected to tell me to make sure the blue reset button to the left of the housing is flipped up. Also the lamp cover has to be correctly re-fastened before turning the power on again. The lamp will not light if the cover is not secure.

Question

my Samsung HL R5067W, is making a buzzing noise, I read in this website that itcould possibly be the color wheel. I took it to the recommended service

tech.you have on your site
for repair and he stated that it was not color wheel,it was the engine. and it was not economical to repair...I have had my TV less than 10 years, does the engine tend to go out that quickly? The TV was expensive and it should last a little longer than that..should I take it somewhere else.

Very sorry to hear that your TV is having problems. The authorized service center is the best place to get an evaluation of the cost for repair. I'm sorry that the cost is going to be prohibitively high, but their advice will be the best to take.

Question

The Lamp and Ballast has been replaced, still lamp will not light any suggestions?

I have replaced the lamp in the past without a problem. This time the TV started making a loud buzzing noise like a small engine revving to high. I thought it was the bulb again but it would not light after I replaced it so I replaced the ballast however it still will not light the lamp. Any suggestions other the a service call to a repairman?

Question

Screeching sound

Hi,
the TV emits loud screeching sound when you turn it on - for several minutes. It's probably coming from the fan. Any advice on how to fix it?

Thanks,

I had the same problem. I thought it was a fan also. turned out to be the color wheel rubbing against the inner housing. To fix it I I had to pull the right side module (looking from the back). this is the same module that contains the lamp. Two screws at the bottom of the of the TV hold this module in place. You must also disconnect the four wiring harnesses the connect to this module then the whole thing slides out ( easier said than done I might add. You have to work at it). once you get the module out, remove the lamp housing(one screw holding it in) slide it out also. Then remove the lamp cooling fan( three screws). then remove the lamp plate ( sliver colored metal with three screws holding it in, it also has a overtemp heat sensor on the top of it). there is a unit right behind this plate that holds the color wheel( two screws in the top of it) it has two ribbon cables connected to it and looks like a big heat sink. remove the screws and SLOWLY pull up to remove the color wheel be careful not to damage the ribbon cables or the wheel itself. you should see evidence of it rubbing against something. if you look inside the color wheel housing, you should be able to see where the wheel is rubbing on it. I took a small file and removed some of the plastic in that area. that fixed the problem. be very careful putting the color wheel back into the housing as it is quite fragile.

I'm very sorry for your inconvenience. Component output is available only for RF, Video, and
S-Video modes. There is only HDMI input for this model.

I've attached an image as to where you should connect your cables with the area highlighted in red, so please check they're correctly hooked up. And then please check to make sure you're using the current modes for output.

Question

why does my tv picture turn off and on by itself?

HLR 5067W DLP TV, about 5 years old. Periodically picture will begin shutting off and on upon startup; when picture is on unable to adjust volume and HDMI indicator is onscreen, unable to switch inputs. Picture will stay on for about 15 seconds, then off for about 15 seconds and repeat. Unplugging and plugging TV/Cable power sometimes helps. Sometimes TV will not power up at all for several hours, then will work fine for several days, then picture will shut off and on by itself until it decides it's ok to run. During this time the lamp/fan are both working....have removed lamp and cleaned fan.

Question

What part needs to be replaced?

My Samsung DLP HLR5067 WAX/XAA recently stopped working. It keeps making a whirring noise and will try to keep booting up with no avail. There is no picture or no sound. I have heard that this is a common issue and it is either the cooling fan or the color wheel. Please let me know your input and the part number needed for replacement. I do not have a Samsung rep working where I live.

Question

Green/white/black flashing vertical lines for component inputs

Hi,
We're having problems with our component connections for our Samsung DVD/VHS combo and Wii console. Every time we switch over to these inputs, the screen flashes green/white/black checked vertical lines. I searched online and from what I can tell it looks like a defective digital board for DLP tv's that you should be well aware of. I haven't submitted a complaint to the NJ AG's office yet, but it seems as thought that may be the course of action to take in order to get this remedied. Please let me know what I should do. Thanks in advance for your help!
