Samsung does not recommend using the refrigerator's water and ice features without either an internal or external filtration system because mineral deposits or debris could potentially damage the water lines. While it isn't unusual for there to be some residual taste after installing a new filter, it should dissipate over time. Dispensing 5-6 gallons of water and dumping the first few batches of ice should help to flush the system. However, if the issue persists, I would suggest contacting Samsung for assistance determining whether the prolonged exposure to unfiltered water may have damaged the lines.
