I have the same problem. I think it is a software bug and hopefully they release an update that will take care of this. I read at another forum that a lot of people have this trouble. I have my second tab 7 plus and both had this problem so it is not a hardware problem but rather in the OS or Touchwiz UI.

I have found that a hard restart solves this. Plug it in and hold the Power button for 15 seconds or so and it should show a charging battery then press the power button again and it comes back up. This has happened to me several times and that fixed it for me. Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus 16GB
Having to force-reboot the tablet is not a solution. This is a big problem, that samsung needs to address. In the meantime I will be returning my tablet.

I have had a galaxy tab 7 plus for about a month. It goes in to the Death of Sleep about once a day where it seems to crash while in sleep mode. To wake it up, you have to hold the power button down for about 10 seconds to reboot. It is a widely reported problem in the forums. My tab 7 plus also reboots spontaniously, also reported in the forums. Samsung needs to address these problems. I am returning my 7 plus tab today.

The solution is actually to just backup your data and do a factory restore. I had that issue, and it seems to be resolved by factory restoring. It appears to be a corruption that can occur in 3.2 on our devices, maybe due to touchwiz, but rather than just ask a question, contact samsung support and submit a bug request. They can then try to track it down with log files.

The dreaded and common Sleep of Death (SOD). Started happening after I upgraded to ICS. I downloaded an app called Auto Airplane mode by DON and it solved the problem, never had an SOD since. I believe it's ICS and Samsung's Touchwiz together with how Wifi is handled when it goes to sleep that causes a conflict and shuts down the tab. It's a small app that does not take up too much memory. Helps prolong battery life too.
When do we get it, us 7.0 plus owners? NOW THAT THE GAL TAB 2 is OUT w/Ice Cream Sammy.

Question
Battery after ICS update
My battery life after updating has greatly diminished. Is anyone else having this issue and how do/did you correct it? I have shut off basically everything with no luck. It lasted days with HC and now it's hours with ICS.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have the same issue. Since the ICS upgrade I am recharging my tablet on a *daily* basis. I have minimized screen usage, disabled sync and GPS and the best I get is 1 day of STANDBY. (see photo).
I am getting better performance from my Galaxy SII cell phone with more usage and hourly sync.
I am having the same problem. A factory reset fixed it for awhile. After a second factory reset did not fix it when the battery drain returned, I figured out a few things: 1) battery drain is due to tablet not staying in deep sleep. (this is why Samsung's suggested fixes are not helpful...it's not the settings, it's a bug) 2) battery drain is related to wifi. With wifi off, the tablet will go to sleep and the normal long standby times return. 3) leaving wifi on, even during sleep, can slow the drain by allowing the tablet to go to sleep. If this is not working for you, try clearing the memory cache (do a search forinstructions on how to do this) 4) I have been unable to get rid of battery drain when wifi policy is set to automatically turn off during sleep (either "only when plugged in" or "never" on during sleep). I have done all the things that Samsung recommends in the link above, as well as uninstalling all apps and a host of other fixes. This is a bug that is clearly related to Samsung devices that got the ICS upgrade.

The 7.0 plus will act as a stand alone GPS so long as you have installed an "offline" GPS app and the maps to go with it.Google maps works well as long as you have internet access. There are some that work just search for "offline GPS Apps.

I did mine at the end of August 2012. Put Samsung Kies on your PC, hook the tablet up to USB, and go. My install was perfect, but it took a long time- over an hour, probably due to server demand. Do NOT interrupt the upgrade (like I almost did) if you have to leave it hooked up all night.

If you select Task Manager, one of the 2 tabs, is Active applications, Select that and then tap the X of each app you wish to stop.
If you want to remove an app entirely, you can do the on the Applications page you will find after you select Settings Menu (bottom right of main screen). If the app is bloatware you cannot remove it

It is engraved on the back. It is very small and engraved gray on gray. The serial number is also there. The only way you can read it is with a good magnifying glass.
Whoever ok'd that aspect of the Tab's design should be fired along, with the designer who put it there. They are both are idiots. It should be larger and also part of the About Screen, in settings.

Why can't I play videos in websites after ICS update?
Anytime I try to play a video embedded in a website after the Ice Cream Sandwich update it simply will not play. Then it will show a small blue lego block- looking symbol with a question mark on it. It seems to show this symbol with certain other animations in websites.
I tried the stock browser and the Dolphin browser and the same problem occurs.
I have double checked the content settings in the browsers as well.
Thanks

*Update* I just uninstalled Adobe Flash Player and re-installed it. Looks like there was an update. Video works now but it lags. According to Flash Player Play store reviews, others had the same problem and their video lags now also.

Yes, you can. The HD needs to be powered though, as the USB adapter will not provide enough to spin up the disk. I use the USB adapter with an external drive with its own power with no problems.
