I don't know about how the silicon case would fit either tablet, but if it has a cutout for the front facing camera then it would not work on the Tab2 because the camera is above the oposite side of the screen. It's also possible that the rear facing camera would be covered, but I'm not sure of that since I've only seen my Tab2.
I bought a Patriot brand Class 10 32GB micro sdhc card for the Tab 2. I placed it in the micro sd slot, and under settings - storage it is recognized as a 29.7GB (or close) SD card, probably the formatted size.
I bought the card so I could store my apps on it rather than the limited amount of internal storage in the Tab 2. With my other Android devices I used Apps2SD application to move the apps to the SD card and it works fine- except on the Tab 2. Apps2SD sees the apps which can be moved and lists them, but gives me no opportunity to move them.
It comes back with a message something about the SD card is not a true but maybe emulated eternal device and cannot move the app to it.
There is no option in Google Play to download to the SD card, and once I get it downloaded to internal memory, I can't move it. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I read on some sites that that ICS 4.0 (the Operating system that is on the Galaxy Tab 2) does not support apps to the external SD cards, and there are some sites like XDA-developer, stating that Google has turned this option off and it's up to the manaufactor to turn this optioin on via programming.

At this time I don't think you can do that with this particular device, however I'm sure as time goes on Samsung will probably have a fix for us.

I thought I was going crazy! I have wasted so much time downloading and uninstalling app after app with the same results. I can only hope that any spike in sales from the holidays will get Google's attention and fix this problem. I have two tab 2's and my children are very disappointed!!

It is a limitation of the OS. Samsung doesn't really have as much control over it as Google does, but it is a big inconvenience. The only option at this time it to root the tablet, which voids the warranty, due to Tech support not being able to assist customers with custom roms.
Samsung staff and Tech support both can't support the 3rd party software mentioned because it is exactly that 3rd party software. However, the issue isn't the software. The issue is as I and others stated its a limitation of Android 4.0+ ICS OS. I'm not sure why Google removed this function from ICS, but it would be nice if they put it back.
I noticed I can only store pictures from the camera, or music on the micro SD card.

I have the same issue. Tech support answers much the same as the staff response to this question that "we can’t do that". Pretty much makes having a SD card slot a lot less useful. This appears to be a limitation of the OS since I have confirmed that I can do this for the same app on an older phone but I cant on this Tab 2 , 7” tablet or a Toshiba tablet (the same application downloaded at the same time from the play store) Of course the Toshiba (32G 10.1”) has plenty of usable memory (but no GPS) while the tab 2 has barely 4GB (in the 8GB version). I like the GPS but if there is no room to download applications and data not sure if I can justify keeping it. Doesn’t do me any good to get a GPS reading if I can’t have the map too! Since it is Wifi only I can’t stream from a cell connection to keep them updated.
Was thinking this was the perfect little companion for recreational/private pilots but I am having doubts now.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
We cannot support 3rd-party applications for any our product line.
I have exactly this same issue and see it as a limitation of the Galaxy Tab 2 with Ice Cream Sandwich. We must have the ability to move apps that can be moved to the SD card, like we had with the Galaxy Tab original working with Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). Samsung, are you listening? I impact many tech buyers and am pointing this out to them. You will lose sales on this unless you correct it within the device or otherwise.
I just purchased a new Tab 2 7.0 and noticed that the WiFi singal is weaker than all of my other devices in my house. I have tried a firmware update (it was up to date) and a hard reset and none of these corrected the issue. Any other advice?

1. Everybody can google it and you will find most Tab2 7.0 users have this WiFi connection problem. I am using one of the BEST rounters in the market - EnGenius ESR9850 wireless router which is famous for strong signal and throuput. I have 2 laptops, 1 netbook, 3 ipads, 2 cellphones using the same WiFi at my home. I am not using them all at the same time, but all of them have full bar of WiFi signal except my 1 day old Samsung Tab2 7.0. Obviously it is either design problem or hardware issue. Samsung should act NOW to solve the problem. I have great hopes on Samsung but this one disappoints me completely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. My Tab2 pops up showing "update samsung account?" every 20 seconds, extremely annoying!!!!!!!!!!!! Even after I put in my email and correct password and I still cannot log in to samsung account while this pop up window still asks to update again and again and again!!!!! Do we need to log in to use window computers? Do we need to log in to MicroSoft to get the windows updates? Why on earth do we need an extra samsung account to get the software update as we already paid for your products?
If Samsung is not solving this problem within 20 days after reading so many negative feedbacks about the WiFi connection problems, this samsung tab2 is going back to Best Buy!

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
It sounds like you've done just about everything we would've tried to isolate what the issue may be. You might check to see if your wireless router has the latest firmware. Also, you might power cycle your network. Unplug the router and modem and leave off for 30 seconds or more. Then, plug in wireless router first and let it fully boot before plugging in your modem and letting it fully boot. Then test again. Good luck!
I just got my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 a few days ago and I love it. My only complaint has been wifi connectivity. I find that it will suddenly drop bars for no reason at all. Even if I am sitting right by router. I had a similar issue with a mobile phone a few months back (not Samsung) and suspected it was the antenna placement. Knowing my router is not the problem (works great with everything else in the house) I decided to look online. Found a few forums that mentioned the antenna is placed in the lower left side of the tablet. So if you are holding the tablet in portrait mode, your left hand will more than likely be covering the antenna. Sure enough, when I reposition my hand in portrait mode, I get full connectivity to my router. My fix has been to flip the tablet upside down and use it that way. It's a bit annoying as the power button is now where your hand is, but it's the only way I can keep a wifi connection. Also a pain when using certain apps that require an internet connection and you cannot rotate the screen. Annoying but at least there is a workaround.
There is clearly a problem with the Galaxy Tab....I am having a same problem with connectivity and my 2.7. It drops WiFi suddenly or will show weak or no signal strength when all other devices in my home using WiFi are showing "Excellent" signal strength from my WiFi. This has been very frustrating.

Question
Where's the "comprehensive User Guide" for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
The tiny booklet that came with my new Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 says to go to Samsung.com for a "comprehensive User Guide." I can't find such a thing. I'm new to Android and to Samsung mobile devices, so I need something more than is in the little booklet.

Samsung has just added this manual on this site under downloads.
Also you can view the guide on this site. If you have registered your product it will be listed under downloads. You may also click under the support tab and do a "search by device" which will also provide you with the download for the comprehensive guide.
If you see the box with version information, you have successfully installed Flash Player and will be able to view Flash content via the Android browser. If you see a “Get Flash Player” icon instead of the version information, confirm that both Browser Plug-Ins and JavaScript are enabled on your device:
Open the Browser Hit the Menu Button Confirm that Enable Javascript is checked Choose Settings > Enable Plug-Ins and make sure that it's set to Always On
If the settings above did not match, this probably fixed the problem.
Please visit the Flash Player Version Detection Page again. If you see the version information now, it should be working correctly. If not, it sounds like the installation did not work correctly.
First uninstall Flash Player by doing the following: Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Adobe Flash Player Hit Uninstall (or Uninstall Updates) and follow the prompts
Restart your tablet. This will make sure that anything that might be keeping the Flash Player binary locked is no longer running.
Once the tablet comes back up, visit the Android Market and search for "Flash Player". Follow the installation prompts.
Please repeat the steps above to confirm that JavaScript and Plugins are enabled, and then check the version detection page.
If you have any additional questions, we suggest your refer to your product manual or the product support page on our website, where you'll find a comprehensive troubleshooting guide, product support videos, FAQs and How-Tos, as well as manual software downloads.
Anytime I try to use Maps to either return home, or go to a new location, the map, directions never complete loading. I usually get a message - "Cannot complete without a data connection." To go from one place to another, does this mean I first must find and add a new nearby and available network in order to get directions to proceed to a new destination? When I have the wi-fi "on," and have the GPS "on," the information never completes loading. When Wi-fi and GPS are "on," if I am anywhere but home, I get either no loading, or the "Cannot complete without a data connection." Thanks for any help, as I would like to use my tablet on the road.

There are some application that let you take your maps offline with you ("map with me" for example). The problem is that they take up a lot of space and as mentioned elsewhere in this forum for some reason we can no longer move applications from system to SD memory. So far samsung has not indicated they are willing to work on the ability to move apps to the SD card so for the time being you cant map the world all at once.
In short you can get some maps and use the gps but nothing like google maps or live updates without the data connection. You should be able to get at least WA, OR, ID or something similar on your system though.

I am using the Co-Pilot Live Premium app. It works great and you can (must) download the maps to your tablet. I added a 32 GB card but I am not sure whether or not it stored them there or not. It uses the standard voices or you can purchase some other voices (I use a female UK voice but that's only because of my personal preferences.).
I just purchase this unit to replace an existing tablet, but the GPS is working fine and the route recalculation has been exceedingly quick on this unit. I just ordered a new windshield/dashboad mount because the placement of the power /volume buttons and the charging port are different than my older tablet.
I say give this or other apps a try. I am finding it works without any additional network connections because the maps are stored on the tablet.
You will not be able to use the GPS directional features without an active Wi-Fi or cellular network data connection. The latter is essentially a paid subscription like many people have when using a Samsung or other manufacturer's smartphone, which means their ability to browse the web is carried over the carrier's network.
The GPS application can be launched or you could calculate a route from your home or work to another destination and vice-versa, but if you made a left turn instead of a right turn, without that data connection, it would not recalculate or allow you to do anything else. The GPS feature does not work like a modern GPS device, as those devices actually connect to a true satellite for their data.
Can I make phone calls on my Galaxy Samsung Tablet??
I just recently purchased this tablet and was wondering how do or can phone calls be made from it. I'm a bit confused! I keep seeing different articles on the subject but haven't figured out yet.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
This tablet does not contain the necessary internal parts to make a phone call like a smartphone would allow, but there are apps such as Skype that allow you to make a phone call online, even though there are certain limitations.
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=skype
If you're looking for a device that would allow phone calls and offer tab capabilities, you may consider the purchase of a Samsung Note.
Yes. You can get several apps to use your phone. You need to activate Google Talk and use Groove IP ($) or Talkatone (free). I have use both of these on my Android phone, but only Groove IP on my tablet. It works very well and it is pretty clear 99% of the time. If you have Sprint, and Google Voice integration with your phone number, then when you call from any of these apps, people would see your phone number when you call. Pretty cool.
I use the Talkatone app (free) with my Google Voice number to make and receive calls and text messages at no cost. I even use it to call back to the US for free when I'm out of the country. Use a Bluetooth headset for best results.

I just plug the usb cable into my computer and drag and drop my music, photos, movies, and videos to the external sd card. I tried using kies and found it easier to just drag and drop.
You can also use an app to do it wirelessly. I am using wifi file transfer pro from the Play Store. You can get others that do the same. I found this one to be the best. it allows you to see your external sd card. I never had any luck with USB or Kies. I am on a Mac though.

Hold the power button for 30-45 sec. This will cause the unit to powercycle and should resolve the issue.
If the issue persists try to find a common factor of when it happens. If nothing else you may need to backup your data to an external source such as the cloud and perform a factory data reset.
Thank you for contacting Samsung. Josh's recommendation below is accurate. Hold you power button for a very long time. Eventually, it should power off. Connect it up to a power source and charge it for a while and then try powering it back on. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

We are a U.S. based support team, therefore we can only actively support Samsung products purchased in the U.S. We recommend you contact Samsung Germany for further support with your product.
When activated, the GPS feature will determine your physical location (longitude/latitude), but unlike a traditional GPS device where the map and route data is stored physically on the device, it will only work if there is an active connection to the Internet via wi-fi or mobile data network. So, you can calculate a route from a wi-fi cafe to a friend's home and use the GPS in the car, but if you deviate from your route, the device will not recalculate. The data it downloaded to get you from point A to point B is downloaded per use. We recommend you review the following troubleshooting guide for additional info.
There is a special introductory event planned for Thursday, October 24th, but we cannot confirm whether Verizon will offer the product. We recommend you visit you contact Verizon or connect with us via our social networking channels for future product announcements.
Correction: October 24th is a Wednesday. Some additional digging indicates that Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular are expected to have the device by mid-November 2012.

According to page 184 of the product manual, Strict Mode makes the screen flash when applications perform long operations on the main thread. To access this setting, from the Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings ➔ Applications ➔ Developer options.
This is a built-in feature for users of the Galaxy Tab that are developing apps for the device. Unless you've installed a version of Android other than the version that came pre-installed on the device, you should be able to disable this feature by following the instructions above.
If this red frame issue began occurring without explanation after normal use (no jailbreaking of device), your device is covered by 1-year manufacturer's warranty, so you can file a service request if you so choose.

This isn't good, as internal storage is small.
Is there a minimum speed/class required for micro SDHC?
