Hello and thanks for reaching out!

Have you tried using this method? http://bit.ly/JxHDOd

Also make sure these files are actually in the appropriate file format. As long as the music player can play the file, you can use it as a ringtone.

Try adding these files as music and then setting them as ringtones using the method linked above.

If you need additional assistance please contact us again. You can also reach out to us via twitter or facebook for quicker responses.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hi there.

Regarding your concern about 3G, it is a network dependent service. The 3G icon will display on the phone once you are in a strong 3G network area.

You can try to do a soft reset by turning off the phone, then remove the battery and put it back in and power on the phone again.

Should you have further inquiries about 3G network, you can call your service provider.

Thank you and Happy Holidays.

The Nexus S does not support the AT&T 3G Bands. The Nexus S is WCDMA 900 / 1700 / 2100 - AT&T 3G is WCDMA 850 / 1900. You can get Edge service on AT&T.

I also had this issue on my Nexus S. What you'll need to do is tell one of your friends to call and leave you a message. Then go into your voicemail, check, and delete the message. The voicemail icon should disappear from your notification.

the os finds certain types of files and displays them in the gallery. there is no way to control what is displayed (when the images are not phone captured or Picasa synced.) or reorganize into different folders.

example. connected the phone to computer and added .jpg images to album folders to get album art in the music player. that works perfectly. just drop the art into the album folder and the image is displayed in the music search or play screens.

go to gallery and find all of the album cover images in the gallery. every image is in it's own folder (or album or stack) look at the top of the screen and you realize that the images are in the folders for the music.

also, added a map app and in that app is a folder of map icon images. now that folder is displayed in gallery containing all of the icon images.

so you guess that this is the google ubiquitous search idea. no way to control it (yet).

If you want to hide some images or pictures, download "picture safe" (ps) from the market. That allows you to hide any amount of pictures or images you want keep private or out of your gallery. To view those hidden pics, you will have to open ps and log in. It is good to prevent noisy people who like to go through people phones.

For photos that aren't Picasa synced, but are in folders on the phone's USB memory, you can simply place a file (or folder) with the name of .nomedia inside the folder you don't want to be displayed.

No need to contact your customer service department. Your SIM toolkit is missing because either Samsung or Google decided not to make it active on your phone. I just switched over from Motorola Milestone (Android) to find out that I can not any more use SIM Toolkit because there is none in Nexus S. Samsung/Google, please fix it ASAP and stop suggesting to turn operator - they can not help, you can.

Question

Why won't my Nexus S detect certain WiFi networks?

There are certain WiFi networks that my Nexus S just does not list. They are well within reach, and I can connect to these without problems with a Nexus One from the same location! I've added them manually as well; however, they simply do not show up, even though I stand very close to the wlan-router

I have found that it does not detect wifi networks on channels 12 and 13, possibly also 14. Outside the US, these channels are frequently used. This means that Nexus S owners, without a fix, will not be able to connect to these networks when using the phone's wifi connection outside the US. This is extremely annoying (this not an issue with the Nexus One).

Yes, you would have to download an application (Tango, Fring, etc.) to be able to use the video call feature.

The other person doesn't have to have a Nexus S. I believe the other person just needs the same application.

Hi ASet!

Thank you for your inquiry. If you wanted to have apps for your Samsung Nexus S (GT-I9020), you may go to the "Market" application that is listed under Applications on your handset. By this, you can choose any applications that you wanted to install on your Samsung device. However, please keep in mind that we don’t support any third party application for any of our devices. For this reason, we do not have information compiled on possible resources of all the applications for your Nexus S.

You may also check the website of Android Market for all the applications for your Android phone. Please check the link below:

As soon as I turned on my Nexus S for the first time, it downloaded the 2.3.2 update automatically. You may want to call your carrier and ask if they're supporting it. T-Mobile pushed the update to my phone.

There is no way to activate because your stock Nexus S just does not have SIM Toolkit. I have the same poblem, my SIM services do work on all other dumb and smartphones exept on Nexus S.
Special note to Samsung: please do not desinform people - only one who can fix SIM Toolkit question is Samsung and no one else. So please fix it ASAP.

I am not sure I quite understand your question. If you have an unlocked Nexus S, it will work with multiple sim cards. I have used mine with cards from two different countries and both worked perfectly. However, you can only have one sim card in at a time. Hope that answers your question :)
