As with most electric cooktops, it is normal for the elements to cycle on and off in order to maintain the heat setting. This is normal.

Thank you for choosing Samsung!

This is normal, the heating elements only have one power setting, on, or off. When you have the heat set on anything except high, the unit turns the element off when a certain temperature is reached. It's like the thermostat in your house, it turns on the heater only enough to keep the temperature at the desired setting.

However, the cooktop is made of dense material and retains a LOT of heat, which acts as a buffer against the element turning on and off. For us, it tends to retain a little more heat so that if you have it on high to reach a temperature quickly, then turn the setting down to a lower setting, it will stay hotter than the lower setting for a while. How long "a while" is depends on what kind of container you have sitting on the element, but for say 5 - 10 minutes it will stay hotter than the new lower setting.

answer 3
The "burners" on an electric range have TWO settings - off and on. There is no in between. So they turn on and off to maintain a goal.

With the burner set to high, normally they stay on almost all the time, heating the pot on top of it to boil water. With the heat control set to an intermediate value, the burner will kick on and off repeatedly to maintain a goal temperature. However, if you leave a pot off of the burner, they will overheat if they stay on permanently. The temperature sensor recognizes this fact, and that there is no need to leave the burner on.

All of this is different for a gas range, where it is the amount of gas that is fed to the burner to control the heat.

Note that an electric range will cook more slowly than a gas range. So you may think the stove is not working properly, when it actually is working as it is designed. One other important point - a smooth top range like this cooks most efficiently with flat bottomed pots. You need good contact over the bottoms to get good heat transfer, and good heat transfer is essential for cooking. Check this fact by taking one of your pots and hold a ruler across the diameter (underneath the pot). Or take the pot and touch the edge of your counter top. Sight along that straight edge. Most pots tend to have a bit of a dish to them, so the center of the pot may stand off by as much as 1/4 inch. Those pots will perform poorly.

answer 3
Kashering a Glass, Corning, Halogen, or Ceran electric smoothtop range for Pesach use is a bit complex. To kasher the burner area, turn on the elements until they glow. The burner area is now considered kosher for Pesach. However, the remaining area that does not get hot is not kashered. The manufacturers do not suggest covering this area as one would a porcelain top, as it may cause the glass to break. Real kosherization can be accomplished by holding a blow torch over the glass until it is hot enough to singe a piece of newspaper on contact with the glass. However, this too may cause the glass to shatter and is not recommended. As the area between the burners cannot practically be kashered, it would be wise to have a trivet on the open glass area to move pots onto. In addition, it would be wise to place a metal disc, approximately 1/8 of an inch thick, on the burner area to raise the Passover pots above the rest of the glass surface. (Caution: This disc should not extend beyond the designated cooking area.) This will help in case the pot boils over, sending a trickle of hot liquid that would serve as a connector from the Passover pot to the non-Passover stovetop.

I was wondering the same thing as well about a cover to protect the ceramic overlay. However, a rubberized non-flammable mat would be a great choice in case a heavy object were to fall onto the ceramic overlay. Ideally, the purchaser would have to find a company or create a template to create such a product for the protection of the range's ceramic top.

Question

Makes beeping noise through entire cooking process

Got the stove three weeks ago and love it overall. While it is oven temp isheating, the stove beeps quite often and loud. In the other room, people comment on the noise. Even when it is at the correct heating temparture, it continues to beep. It's the same beep as when you push the tempature and push enter. Sometimes it beeps four or five times in two minutes. Service came out and said that was normal and is recycling through all the bake/broil/convenction but service is going to replace a part anyways... maybe more to appease me. The noise is loud enough and often enough that I absolutly love the stove, but would not be able to stand the noise when the oven is on. Would this noise be considered "normal"?

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. One possible cause of frequent beeping could be the kitchen timer, which, if set, will continue beeping after the set time as elapsed until you press the Kitchen Timer ON/OFF button.

Other normal reasons for beeping include the oven reaching the set temperature after preheating (6 long beeps should sound), or after reaching the temperature the oven has been adjusted to; or if an error code is displayed the oven should beep continuously.

I would suggest disconnecting the stove from its power supply by unplugging or switching the circuit breaker off then on again. If, after this reset, you continue to experience this issue, then your range may require service again. Please either submit the online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your FTQ353IWUX electric range. Please check the electrical power supply first, to be sure it is rated appropriately for this range. The FTQ353 requires a 240V, 60 Hz power supply with a dedicated 40 amps circuit. If necessary, please contact a licensed electrician to assess your home's power supply and review your options.

Given the risks involved in servicing electric appliances, Samsung recommends that service on your range be performed by a trained professional to avoid further damage to the appliance or injury to yourself. Look again. I thought I had a stain between the door and the glass window, but it was really on top of the glass (inside the over). I can't remember if I used a razor blade or a green scrub pad or some Bartender's helper. But I would try them in that order. I think I used some very hot water. I hope yours is actually on the glass. When you think about it, it would be quite difficult to get it on the inside of the glass.

The FTQ353 will automatically adjust the oven temperature down by 25 degrees when convection bake is selected. However, the time is not converted because some baked items require a certain amount of time for ingredients to cook properly. I would suggest consulting the package or recipe directions for convection cooking for best results.

I'm sorry to hear you have marks on your new range. While cast iron is an acceptable material in terms of the magnetic properties necessary for the induction elements to function, cast iron skillets with rough bottoms may scratch the ceramic cooktop. 1. Clean the induction cook-top daily by applying a few drops of ceramic cook-top cleaner to the induction cook-top surface. The owner's manual provided with an induction cook-top may identify manufacturer-recommended cook-top cleaning solutions.
2. Using a paper towel or cleaning pad designed for glass cook-tops, spread the cleaner across the cook-top surface. Use a dry paper towel to remove the cleaner from the surface.
3. Remove spills and burned-on residue by first allowing the induction cook-top surface to cool. Place the ceramic cook-top cleaner directly on the spill. Use a ceramic cook-top cleaning pad to scrub the area clean. Repeat as necessary to remove residue.
4. Use a scraper designed for cleaning a ceramic cook-top to remove heavily burned-on residue. Make sure that the cooking surface has cooled completely before attempting to scrape off the residue. Use pressure to scrape off the residue. Then use the ceramic cook-top cleaner and cleaning pad to remove remaining residue.

The amount of time it takes to bring water to a boil on the cooktop of the FTQ353 can vary depending on the size of the pot relative to the amount of water and the size of the cooktop element, The more surface area of the water that's exposed to the heat, the faster it will boil. The material the pot is made of will also effect the boiling time since different materials conduct heat at different rates. Please make sure your range is connected to an appropriate source of power based on the 240V/60 Hz/40-amp electrical rating, and refer to the user manual for advice on selecting the best cookware and using the cooktop elements. The manual can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website for easy reference.

Check the pot you are using - if the pot is curved it will not work well. The range is designed to permit flat-bottom pots to take advantage. I can boil water is less than 2-minutes. I had to change a few pots for new ones that were flush with the range, which distributes the heat evenly during the cooking process. Our biggest complaint is that we are use to cooking at a different time rate and the food will sometimes singe because the range cooks the foods more efficiently.

Question

Does the door come in all stainless for this model?

Could the door from the FTQ387LWGX fit this model 353IWUX and if so where would I get it and how much would it cost? I can't afford the extra $300 for the 387 and I don't see what differences there are other then the triple burner.

The FTQ353IWUX is available with only one door design, and it's stainless above and below the window, but black to the left and right of the window. For information on parts availability, please visit samsungparts.com or call 800-627-4368. They should be able to tell you whether the FTQ387LWGX door is available and what the cost would be.

There are several reasons why foil should not be used to line the oven, not the least of which is that it can fuse to the surface of the oven and be very difficult to clean out. For tips on cleaning all of the oven surfaces, including the interior, please follow this link: http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa...

Question

Will this range fit in my space?

Per your specs the max height of this electric range is 47-1/16". My space allows for only 47" as the counter top behind the stove has an overhang. Is there any "wiggle room" (adjustments) that would allow the range to fit into this heighth. I want to purchase this range and love all its features but want to make sure it will fit my space.
