Funny, My FPT5084 has done it twice before back when i bought it in 2008 & 2010. A repair guy came after i called Samsung and fixed it and that was it, then this week it started doing it all again so i called Samsung and got all sorts of BS.

They would not come and fix it they gave me the whole out of warranty BS and also claimed that i was not in the system for it being repaired back in 2008 & 2010. I tried to find the original paper work but had no luck as i had the repair slips from the last time in the bag with all the other stuff for the TV.

I understand the TV is kinda old but the power supply only lasted 2 years this time and the TV is actually a secondary tv in our den and does not get as much use as our primary.

Sad thing is even after them not refusing to fix and and hiding behind the warranty this TV and some other models have a well known issue but i was told that they do not have many complaints about this one and it is not known to have a issue that would require a recall or an out of warranty repair.

The even sadder thing is that i went and bought a New 51" Samsung Plasma last night because i love the products but not happy with the BS i got on a product with known issues and the fact that the last 2 service repairs magically disappeared from their system.

Yes, I am having the same problem and it appears other are too. Looks like it is going to end up being the internal power supply inside the TV. Read my answer to another persons question regarding this. I did call Samsung support and am calling a local authorized repair center for on site estimate and possible repair.

Question

The fuse is blown n my Plasma flat screen TV, FP-T5084 model. Tjhe repair man cannot get to it for over a week. How do I get to the fuse .

I am pretty good at fixing things but have never tackled a big screen. I know to always turn electricity off and such. I just need to know where the fuse is located so I can check it. That is all I want to do is find it and check it. My TV is out of warranty by 3 months.

Welcome to the club. If you remove all the screws from the back panel, and the nuts and washers from the coaxial inputs, the back panel comes off easily. The power board is in the upper center of the TV, and the fuses in question are located in the bottom left hand corner of that board. If you follow the wires from where the plug connects, they will lead you right to the fuses. The problem I have is finding the correct replacement fuses. None of the electronics stores in my area seem to carry them. They are 12 Amp, 250V ceramic fuses. Hope this helps.

Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps (like Netflix, Pandora or YouTube), it can access App content through a 2010 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing. Hulu+ is only available on the 2010 3D Blu-Ray Players at this time). Unfortunately, there is currently no information on upgrades to Samsung Apps for the 2009 and earlier TVs.

Question

TV Shutoff by itself won't turn on.

I was watching a dvd on my FP-T5084 and all of a sudden the set turned off. The red light that usually indicates the set has power is not on. I can not get it to turn on...

I've tried re-seating the power cord and tried other outlets in the house with no luck.

I am having the exact same problem as of today, and my TV is NOT being used as a monitor for my PC, so the section on moving the PC mouse (for example if both the TV and PC were turned on and the PC went into sleep mode) this could cause a similar problem. The troubleshooting section for this 50" Plasma TV (FP-T5084) details the problem perfectly. I have my TV mounted on the wall and into an external power supply/surge (Monster) protector. I know the outlet the P/S is plugged into is good because I plugged a lamp into it and the lamp turned on. The only thing I cannot do is try plugging the TV directly into the wall outlet and bypassing the external power supply/surge protector because the TV is mounted on the wall blocking access to where the TV power cord plugs into the external power supply. This is a BIG and HEAVY TV and prefer to have the liability of having it removed from the wall lye on the Service company doing the repair. I am hoping (but not confident) that is it not the TV but instead the external (much cheaper) power supply. Seeing this unit is approx. 5-6 years old I would bet it it the TV. I am contacting a local authorized repair facility in 2 days to do an on-site assessment and possible repair pending the overall cost versus replacing the unit. I will report back my finding, decision, and related cost if I decide to repair it.
