Question

Any idea how to change the 'Mail' key function to launch Gmail instead of Email?

For some reason the Mail key on this keyboard pulls up the android program 'Email'. Why wouldn't this pull up your primary Gmail account? Anyone know a way to configure this?

Go to android market and download gmail app and go in your account settings where you added facebook and add gmail address there. You should have had to have a gmail account or set one up to use the tablet

Question

Doesn't work at all

When we plug in the dock the tablet goes to a screen that shows the time. None of the keys work. We changed the input option to the samsung keyboard and still none of the keys work. Is the pad broken or does it just not work?

Try going in to the android market and downloading an app for the external keyboard, if that doesn't work I would lean towards BROKEN and return it.

Question

Why doesn't the Blue status light come on?

When I initially mount my Galaxy 10.1 Tablet on this dock, the blue light flashes on then off - quickly. That's the last I see of this light.
The dock either does a poor job of charging or doesn't charge at all.
What is the blue light supposed to indicate? Is my unit not working? Or is there some setting that I've missed out on?

I believe the blue light comes to indicated that your dock has been successfully mounted and its ready to use. It is not supposed to stay blue.

Question

keyboard make sounds like its connected but doesn't work

Plug in keyboard - sound indicates its connected, but then it doesn't work.
Or it works for a few moments, then stops working.

Both situations are very frustrating.

Go in settings and then go in keyboard settings and set it on Samsung Qwerty keyboard, check the market to see if you have to run an installer app

Did you buy the cable from the Samsung website or an aftermarket. These things are rather new so if it was an aftermarket chances are its not the right cable

To use the "@" on this dock...
Press and Hold SHIFT then press 2 at the same time, then release both keys...that should work..

Trying to register my full-size keyboard dock for galaxy tab

It's asking for the IMEI or HEX #; I've entered everything I can think of on the back of the keyboard and the Tab but it won't register. The keyboard serial # doesn't work either.

The IMEI or HEX number is on the product itself, not on the box. It is usually the IMEI number on the back of the product. There is a spot highlighted in red and if you click on it ,it will show you how to find it.

Mouse & USB

I purchased one of these keyboards, but when I plug anythign other than the charger into it, the keyboard stops. How do I use this with USB adapter, so I can view files on USB drive? Also, I do not see any mouse function for quick copy & paste stuff. Please advise

I have used the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 with the white "docking" keyboard and a USB adapter for 6 months now. The USB adapter plugs in where the charger would plug in and you should be able to use most any usb devices including a flash drive (which I did to create custom videos using Video Maker) The keyboard should not stop working though... Its pass-thru so unless you have some setting that I cant think of turned on than it should work. Try bypassing the keyboard to see if its a keyboard problem. Also any USB mouse should work as well. Hope this helps

Question

Tablet goes black when docking

When docking the Tablet into the Keyboard the tablet turns off! I have to remove it from the dock and it takes several minutes to turn it on again. This happens every time with no exception.

I believe it helps to prevent your battery from running out when not in use. I had the same problem but only occurred when I was idle, but if you keep on using your tablet, it doesn't go off. So, maybe it's because it was to keep your battery. Let me know if you get another answer so I can learn from it too.

Cannot register Galaxy 10.1 tablet keybord (P/N ECR-K14AWEGXAR; S/N DF1B803AS)

The product register page will not accept the serial number of my keyboard. The correct model number is listed on the drop-down window, but when I enter the serial number and attempt to submit, I receive a message stating that I must enter a valid serial number.

You are not supposed to enter the serial number, you are supposed to enter the IMEI number from the product itself, not the box.

Go on Samsung.com and go to the bottom of the page and click on tablets, and then tablet accessories. Then you will have all the accessories that are made for it on that page after you type in your model number and size tablet

Question

Is there a known tablet lockup issue related to this dock?

It seems there is an issue after the last Android update that locks up the Samsung tablet after being docked. Is this a known issue? The only way to get the tablet to power on again is to hold the power button to reset it. This happens randomly, but often.

Yes, there is a known lockup issue with this doc, it only occurs when you are not using your tablet for a long time after the screen times out. I am sure it is a way of saving your battery. Tthe only problem is, when you turn it on, you have to take it off the dock, and press the power button for long before it can boot up...

Question

How do I keep from getting the keys stuck all the time?

Ever couple leters i type the key gets stuck on screen and makes it very difficult to write anything more then a few words. Please help! It also locks up in a black screen often when i let the screen time out while docked.
