DVD may be corrupted scratched or not clean. Possibly you need to run a cleaner on the player itself.

Its a name game. copper wires are coppe wires, no gas needed for hdmi. gold never corrodes. newer sound systems 7.1 uses faster speeds and blueray gaming for faster action. just pick to correct length.
You should buy a cable that says version 1.4 or high speed if you are using a Blu-ray player. Version 1.3 would be good enough for a dvd player.

As far as I can tell that option only works with the (DVD-C550)model. I was a little disappointed too when I found this out to. The owners manual in the box states this on page 9.

Most Samsung replacement remotes can be found here on site by finding the products page and clicking on the item. You will be linked to Samsung Direct and you can shop from there. You can also reach the Samsung Direct site via the SPSN or Samsung Product Support Network web site. There are a couple of third party vendors in America that deal exclusively in Samsung Add ons like remotes, cables, and the hard to find Samsung Memory Cards.
I have a new DVD-C500 that I bought in the US, and would like to be able to use it to play my DVDs that I bought while I was living in Europe.

According to SAMSUNG this cannot be done. But I will suggest you ONE TIME CHANGE THE zone on your PC DVD RW Drive and copy the movies you need and convert them that way. Next time when in Europe make sure you BUY MOVIES that are NTSC and PAL.
First has it played before? Make sure it hasn't been scratched and make sure you are loading it and it goes to the menu first. I am careful with this information because often times the DVD-RW WAS NOT WRITTEN properly to begin with. No disc error on a DVD-RW that plays elsewhere normally means the DVD is just DIRTY and needs a cleaning.
Do I need to upgrade the software? What should the latest version be? Regards Aage

Currently there are no FIRMWARE upgrades for this model. However I suggest REGISTERING your product here at SAMSUNG.COM. By doing so from the myaccount link you can see all your products that are Registered and obtain user manuals, firm ware, and access to places where you can purchase cables, remotes, and other needful add ons for your devices. The link to support for the DVD-C500 is right here for your ease http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/DVD-C500
I googled Samsung C500 because I found it on a website as a Dual zone (or may zone free) DVD player. It does't mention that on this site in the specs. Is this also a dual zone DVD player?

Sadly but NO DVD device is TRUE Dual Zone. Most DVD devices can be changed from one zone to another a FIXED NUMBER of times (usually 5) and on the fifth change it is PERMANENTLY stuck there. The reason is Hollywood, Bollywood, and Eurowood do this to COMBAT Pirating of movies over international borders. And there is actually a way around this but I am not sharing that information. Since the prices have dropped considerably in the last few years. If you frequently go zone to zone. I suggest owning one in EACH ZONE to avoid the possibility of your device getting locked in a Zone NOT YOUR HOME ZONE.
Why has this DVD player started freezing, playing, freezing, playing?

If you mean streaming from Netflix on the Internet, you need a network connection.
One can do it through a PC connected to both Internet and HDTV -- see "Allshare".
Or one can do it through a player that connects to the network (preferably hardwired) , through which player the Internet streaming goes to the HDTV.
I recently purchased the Samsung DVD-C500, Why won't my HDMI cable work?
I purchased the HDMI cable when I first brought the product home. Plugged in the DVD player to the TV through the HDMI connection. I set my TV input to the proper HDMI source. I power on the DVD player but I can't get a signal. I try the standard definition cables included with the player and change the source on my TV and get a standard definition picture just fine.

First check all is clean with magnifing glasses, practice pluging to gether then revesre the cable. Plug in the player to power supply. Turn on tv then player, scroll to hdmi, if you have two or three hdmi inputs check each one. With dvd playing, no sign then check cable for firm conection. Last, return cable from store.
