Not sure about this model, but if there is a USB port on the front of the player there should be no problem. Read the manual that came with this player to check what audio formats it will play. My Samsung 1080 will play any music recorded in the MP3 format. Just plug your thumb drive into the USB port and select the USB port on the setup screen that pops up on the TV. Select the file or song you want to play and it plays the audio file for you. No video though, when playing audio files.

Question

Why are all the movies I try to play on my Samsung DVD Player (408-0P9) in black & white?

I moved across town and the Comcast guy supposedly hooked up my DVD player correctly while he was screwing around with the cable. Not so sure he did it correctly, since the two Netflix moves I have tried to run are coming out black and white, including the previews of upcoming movies.

Question

Is there any firmware upgrade for my DVD-1080P9/XAA DVD PLAYER?

Talking Video Files only here - this question is NOT about music. The player cannot play many of the file types I want to play (using the USB port). Also it often does not seem to be able to recognize .srt files for subtitles. I have tried lots of media-side remedies, but I suspect that a firmware upgrade would help. Many of the .avi files and other types, even types listed in the manual, are not recognized by the player, or do not play. I need to upgrade the performance I am getting. i have lots of movies on my hard-drive that i cannot see or cannot get the subtitles to show. But sometimes they do, so there must be a way to enhance the performace , but your website lists no firmware updates. If need be, i'd like to get credit for this machine from Samsung toward a better model (that will play more filetypes!) I don't even use HD - just a 32" CRT TV. Pls email me some usefull info, This playuer is nearly worhtless like it is, and I've ben putting up with it for ~2 years now.

Question

I'm thinking about buying the DVD-1080P9

I would be buying it for the usb feature. I want to be able to connect my usb external hard drive and play my movies. My concern is that I have a mac and am not sure if the DVD player will recognize the format. In the manual it specifies that the DVD player will read USB mass storage devices v. 1.0. My USB drives are formatted MS-DOS (FAT 32). Would this format work?

Problems playing some (but not all) UK DVDs

DVD player: DVD-1080P9
TV: PN42C450B1DXZA
When trying to play some (but not all) UK DVDs, a "Mode Not Supported" message is diaplayed. Suspect the problem is with the TV since the DVD player played those discs fine with another TV.
