Question

Are the new fabric softener "dryer bars" safe to use in the Steam Electric Dryer? If so, should it be removed when using steam settings?

There is no research to measure the effect of dryer bars on Samsung's sensor dry settings that I am aware of, so I would suggest running a drying cycle without the bar to determine whether you have a different result compared to running the dryer with the bar. Dryer sheets are fine to use with Samsung dryers, so if the bar is effecting the drying level I would suggest using the sheets instead. Please follow the dryer bar package instructions with regard to using the product with steam settings.

The DV448AEW dryer temperatures can range from a low of 100°F to a high of over 150°F when sanitizing. If you are using a Sensor Dry setting and your cycle is ending before the clothes are dry, there are a few possible causes; try the following to correct this:
- Clean the lint trap filter and housing.
- Check the vent ducts for blockage.
- Use a Time Dry cycle for mixed loads of different weight fabrics.
- Select the appropriate heat setting and dryness level.

For additional tips, please follow the link below to open the Troubleshooting Guide, then select "Operation" > "Clothes Are Damp At The End Of A Sensor Dry Cycle: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

Question

Why is my dryer, model DV448AEP/XAA, not heating up?

The lint screen is cleaned with every load. It seems there is a great deal of lint with this dryer. We have cleaned the area where the lint screen is located and pulled the exhaust hose/tube off and replaced it as well as cleaning that area where it is attached to the machine and to the home. Please help us. I love this dryer, but this is a real nuisance for our family with babies and small children... lots of laundry to do and this is holding things up!
Thanks for your assistance!

Thank you for the question. Besides checking for lint buildup, other factors that could prevent the DV448AEP from heating properly include lack of a sufficient electrical supply and improper cycle selection. Please check to make sure the dryer is connected to a 240V, 60 Hz, 30 amps power supply, then reset the circuit breaker. Check the dryer's control panel to be sure a heated dry cycle is selected. If the problem persists, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

Question

Have you solve problem with larger items balling up?

After reading reviews on this washer and dryer line, I have determined that the washer is great and the dryer is good but the dryer had a problem with sheets and bigger towels balling up and not drying properly as well as noise problems when this happens. I was wondering if this problem had been addressed.

The simple solution (are you listening Samsung) is to have the dryer periodically reverse direction. I'm surprised this was not implemented. It is also the reason I rate the unit a 3 out of 5.

Thanks for your interest. What you're referring to is actually the result of the large capacity of the DV448AEP, which some people have found can cause sheets to become twisted and even "ball up". A simple solution is to add 3 to 4 towels to the dryer. This should take care of the issue.

I have washed many loads of large items and have not noticed any balling. I have also not noticed any noise problems from the dryer. If you feel the items are not drying enough you could run a manual timed dry and select a higher heat.

Thanks for the question. Samsung recommends attaching the Y connector to the back of the washing machine, then running one cold water line from the wall to the washer, and the other from the washer to the dryer. Another option is to attach the Y connector to the cold water supply, then run one cold water hose to the washer and another to the dryer.

Energy Star does not currently have a system for rating the efficiency of dryers, because they've found in the past that there is not a significant difference in energy use between models. They may reevaluate the need for such a program in the future. However, it's worth noting that the high spin speeds available on Samsung washing machines, along with the Sensor Dry options on the dryers themselves, do help to reduce the amount of energy used to dry your laundry.

Question

When using My Cycle with a "Time Dry" mode, it will not allow a specific time to be set but reverts to the default of 40 min. Is this a design prob?

It remembers the Temp and the Dry Level so I know I am setting the My Cycle correctly. Not being able to set a time defeats the primary purpose of a customized My Cycle. Is this normal or should I call a service rep?

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your DV448AEP/XAA. Please try cycling the power to your dryer by unplugging it for at least 30 minutes then plugging it back in, or turning the circuit breaker off for that period of time. If the dryer still will not power on or the error code returns, it will require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

How do you set a specific time for My Cycle? I would like a 15 min setting so I don't have to always adjust the time down.

I've tried to set a My Cycle for 15 min using both the Time Dry and Quick Dry as a starting point. I adjust the time, select My Cycle, then let the entire cycle complete. I power back up and select My Cycle and the time defaults back to either 40 min (when I've started with Time Dry) or 30 min (when I've started with Quick Dry). All other options are saved with the exception of the TIme.

Question

How are the two 120v lines combined to create 240v within the dryer?

I'm trying to run the dryer in Australia on a single phase 240v circuit. I know that this voids the warranty. Are there any comonents within the dryer that require 120v only or are all the componets run on 240v after the two 120v phases are combined to achieve 240v? If you could sent me a detailed electric wiring diagram for the dryer that would be appreciated.
