The WF448 washer and DV448 dryer are each 39" high without the pedestal. If you choose to mount them on pedestals, the height increases to 54".

There is no clearance requirement for the top of the washer, though I would suggest leaving a small amount of space at least so the washer is not actually touching the surface above it in the event there is some vibration during the early stages of the spin cycle until the Vibration Reduction Technology takes effect.

The dryer does not have a minimum recommended clearance at the top either, unless you're installing your laundry in an alcove or closet, or in an area where air circulation is restricted. If you do plan to install them in such a space, please refer to the attached image for clearance requirements. This information is also available on page 9 of the User Manual which can be downloaded as a pdf from this website.

Thank you for the question!

Question

In what cycles can "Extra Low" be selected?

Trying to dry bicycling clothes, which should have only the lowest heat possible. I cannot seem to select "Extra Low" for any of the "Sensor Dry" modes - only the "Time Dry" cycle. I'd like to use Extra Low heat and have the machine turn off automatically when the clothes are dry.

In order to select the Extra Low temperature setting on the DV448, you would need to use a Time Dry cycle. The Sensor Dry cycles are not programmed to allow the Extra Low heat setting.

Question

When using My Cycle with a "Time Dry" mode, it will not allow a specific time to be set but reverts to the default of 40 min. Is this a design prob?

It remembers the Temp and the Dry Level so I know I am setting the My Cycle correctly. Not being able to set a time defeats the primary purpose of a customized My Cycle. Is this normal or should I call a service rep?

Thank you for the question. In order to lock in the My Cycle setting on the DV448AEP so it will repeat the next time you press it, you must first run it through a complete cycle with your selected time and the My Cycle button pressed.

Moisture in your DV448 can result from the evaporation and condensation of moisture from the wet clothes, especially if there is any blockage or restriction in your vent ducts. If this moisture is not able to exit with the hot air as it's being expelled through the vent, then it will condensate inside the dryer or vent ducts as it cools. I would suggest checking the lint filter, trap and ducts to make sure they are clear; Samsung recommends having the ducts cleaned at least once a year to ensure proper ventilation.

I'm sorry to hear you've had this issue. I'm not sure from your question whether it's the inner glass that needs to be replaced or the outer plastic shell. If it's the plastic part, there are two ways to replace it:
1) You can remove the door from the frame and disassemble the component pieces, replace the plastic shell, then reassemble; or
2) Pry the plastic outer shell from the door using a flathead screwdriver; it should pop off. Replace it with the new plastic piece.

If it's the actual glass part that needs to be replaced, you will need to remove the door and disassemble the door by removing the series of screws that are visible on the inside of the door.

To order either the plastic outer shell or the glass inner door, please visit SamsungParts.com or call 800-627-4368 to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

Why is my dryer, model DV448AEP/XAA, not heating up?

The lint screen is cleaned with every load. It seems there is a great deal of lint with this dryer. We have cleaned the area where the lint screen is located and pulled the exhaust hose/tube off and replaced it as well as cleaning that area where it is attached to the machine and to the home. Please help us. I love this dryer, but this is a real nuisance for our family with babies and small children... lots of laundry to do and this is holding things up!
Thanks for your assistance!

Thank you for the question. Besides checking for lint buildup, other factors that could prevent the DV448AEP from heating properly include lack of a sufficient electrical supply and improper cycle selection. Please check to make sure the dryer is connected to a 240V, 60 Hz, 30 amps power supply, then reset the circuit breaker. Check the dryer's control panel to be sure a heated dry cycle is selected. If the problem persists, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

Thanks for the question. Samsung recommends attaching the Y connector to the back of the washing machine, then running one cold water line from the wall to the washer, and the other from the washer to the dryer. Another option is to attach the Y connector to the cold water supply, then run one cold water hose to the washer and another to the dryer.

Please click on the link below then select "Troubleshooting ► > Dryer Is Hot To The Touch" to see a photo of the inside of the dryer highlighting the location of the heater: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

The most common cause of the dryer not heating is obstructed air flow from a clogged lint trap or vent ducts. Please check the vents for blockage. Other factors to check are to make sure the dryer is plugged into a dedicated 30-amp power supply that is functioning properly, and an appropriate heated dry cycle is selected. If you've checked each of these suggestions and the dryer still will not heat, it will likely require service. Samsung recommends having it serviced by a qualified technician to ensure the issue is properly diagnosed and repaired safely and correctly. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

A squeaking noise in the dryer can sometimes be caused by too much weight which can result in the belt slipping as it turns. This is especially common when drying items like rugs or mats. If this is the case, try placing these items back in the washer and running a spin only cycle to extract more water. If the dryer continues to squeak then it may require service. Question

filter not working effectively

We are noticing lots of lint on the screen OUTSIDE our house from the dryer. We clean it each time we use it. I did notice today that there was a large amount of lint inside the dryer tunnel. This would be looking down into the area where the filter is positioned and to the left of the opening. It appears that link is getting past the filter. Is there a fix for this?

Thank you for the question. It is not unusual for some lint to escape past the lint trap, and it's good that you're cleaning it regularly. Once the lint starts to build up on the sides of the housing especially, it can cause the filter to be pushed up out of the slot, allowing more lint to escape. From the photo it appears this may be at least part of what's causing the increased lint accumulation in the housing area and the exterior hood. I would suggest cleaning the housing area thoroughly with a long-handled brush so the filter can sit properly.

The exhaust fans on Samsung dryers, like many others on the market today, are designed to be strong enough to help reduce lint build-up within the vent ducts. Cleaning not only the lint screen, but also the housing and vent hood, on a regular basis is part of the recommended maintenance routine for the dryer to keep the home safe and the dryer operating properly.
