Question

Our new dryer won't stop running

We recently bought a new washer/dryer about a month ago & the dryer won't stop running. It ran fine the first few times we used it, but now it will run all day long if unchecked, no matter what setting it is on. The timer never goes down, either. It is a samsung model dv431aep/xaa01 electric dryer. Please help.

There are currently two models of Samsung pedestals that are compatible with the DV431AEP dryer: WE357A7P and WE357A0P. The latter has a new "Quick Install" system to make mounting the washer or dryer on top of the pedestal easier, though the pedestals themselves are the same.

Thanks for the question. The DV431 does not have a door lock mechanism like the washer does. You can open the door at any time and the dryer should stop automatically. The dryer does have a Child Lock for the control panel, however, to help prevent children from playing with the settings.

The lights on the dryer may have different patterns for different models, but if your dryer is heating and performing properly this should not cause any problems. If you experience any issues or would like additional information, please feel free to call 800-SAMSUNG or submit your contact information to our support team through the link below.

The specific size of the water inlet on the dryer is not provided in the published specifications since the dryer comes with the necessary Y-connector and hoses. However, for information and availability of replacement parts you can visit SamsungParts.com or call 800-627-4368.

Thanks for the question. Under normal circumstances, the End of Cycle signal should chime when the cycle ends, prior to the door being opened. If yours is not, I would suggest submitting your contact information to our support team through the link below, or calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

DV431AEP/XAA dryer on Bedding Cycle wraps all the pieces inside one sheet and makes a loud noise, as it all becomes one big piece. Is it normal?

I have to pause the cycle every time to unwrap the sheet and rescue the other pieces. The outside is very hot and dry and the other pieces, very moist. It takes a long time to dry everything and it makes a noise if I don't stop the cycle and rearrange the pieces. Is it suppose to work this way? I have tried with one or two sets of sheets and it is always this way - very annoying. Please help me.

Thanks for your question. Some people have found that the large capacity of the DV431 can cause sheets to become twisted and roll up into a ball, which can interfere with their ability to dry. A simple solution is to add 3 to 4 towels to the dryer, or more if the problem persists. This should take care of the issue.

Question

How do I get access to all the temperature choices on any of the Sensor Dry cycles?

If I am on one of the Sensor Dry cycles, there is a chime sound when I press the temperature button; however, the temperature setting may only change between two of the choices or not at all depending upon the cycle. Page 31 of the user gives an example to use low or extra low temperature on the perm press cycle for curtains but it will not change from medium. Another example from page 31 of the user manual says to use low or extra low temperature on normal cycle for down-filled items yet the setting only changes between medium and high when press the temp button.

Thank you for the question. The only cycle that allows the full range of temperature settings is the Time Dry Manual cycle. The Cycle Chart on page 37 of the DV431 user manual shows which settings and options are available for each cycle. This chart is specific to the DV431 so is most accurate for your model.

Question

Does this dryer has been Energy Star rated? How much kWh/Yr consumes?

Energy Star does not currently have a system for rating the efficiency of dryers, though they may reevaluate the need for such a program in the future. However, it's worth noting that the high spin speeds available on Samsung washing machines, along with the Sensor Dry options on the dryers themselves, do help to reduce the amount of energy used to dry your laundry.

Question

Anyone else having dryer lint get passed the lint trap?

Lint is getting around or through the lint trap and getting caught in a motor which is below the drum towards the front. This excess lint causes a rattling noise. Slight pressure with your hand on the front panel below the dryer door stops the noise/rattling. This lint build on the motor occurs every 6-8 months with a 2 load per week average. The lint trap is the original lint trap (lint trap model# DC61-02610) and there are no visible cracks or tears.
