If it Doesn’t heat.
• Check the home’s circuit breaker and fuses.
• Select a heat setting other than Air Fluff.
• On a gas dryer, check that the gas supply is on.
• Clean the lint filter and exhaust duct.
• Dryer may have moved into the cool-down phase of the cycle.

If it Doesn’t dry.
• Check all of the above, plus...
• Be sure the exhaust hood outside the home can open and close
freely.
• Check the exhaust system for lint buildup. Ducting should be
inspected and cleaned annually.
• Use a 4” rigid metal exhaust duct.
• Do not overload. 1 wash load = 1 dryer load.
• Sort heavy items from lightweight items.
• Large, bulky items like blankets or comforters may require
repositioning to ensure even drying.
• Check that the washer is draining properly to extract adequate water
from the load.
• Load may be too small to tumble properly. Add a few towels.

Question

Why has my dryer stopped tumbling/working?

Yesterday, my dryer worked in the morning, when I used the steam/refresh function. Then, I tried drying a regular load of clothes, and the sensor ended the load after a few minutes. I do not know if it tumbled then, as I left the room, and only noticed something amiss when the end of load song went off. I reset it, and tried again, with the same result. I tried resetting it to a normal load/sensor dry, but there was no spinning, no heat, etc. I tried a manual time setting, but no luck either. Clothes just as wet as they were when they went in. The last time I tried it (on the manual time setting) the timer counted down, almost as if it were actually going, but it was not doing anything. Help! I need to do laundry!

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If you don't use the steam feature frequently, then it may help to disconnect the water hose from the dryer and rinse it and the connections thoroughly to ensure the water drawn for the steam in the dryer is fresh. If the problem persists, then bacteria remaining in the clothes after the wash may be the cause. If you have the matching WF419 washer, I would suggest using the ActivFresh feature on a regular basis to help remove odor-causing bacteria from your clothes.

What you're describing is likely an indication that the Wrinkle Prevent feature has been selected. This option enables the drum to keep tumbling for up to 90 minutes after the heated dry portion of the cycle is finished to help prevent wrinkles from setting in. To turn Wrinkle Prevent on or off, press the Wrinkle Prevent button on the control panel.

It's not unusual for the Sensor Dry cycle to start out at a predetermined time, then drop down significantly if the dryer does not detect any moisture. If all or some of the clothes are dry, (especially those that are closest to the door where the sensors are located), then this is normal. Samsung recommends using the Time Dry cycle when drying mixed loads. However, if the clothes are not dry and the dryer is shutting off on Sensor Dry, but the Time Dry cycle is working fine, then your DV419AEW may require service. I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your dryer and your electricity. I would suggest consulting with a licensed electrician to ensure the dryer is connected to a dedicated 30-amp circuit rated for 240V/60 Hz, and there are no other issues with the electrical wiring in your home that could be overloading the circuit. if the problem persists and it is determined that the problem is with the dryer, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.
