Does this dryer require an additional water line for the "steam" feature to work?

It shares the water line from the hot water feed the washer uses. My intallation splits the hot water line at the tap, one hose to the washer, the other to the dryer. Hope this helps.

Samsung steam dryers, including the DV419AEU, do require access to a water supply in order to make steam. The dryer comes with a "Y" connector and water hose, which can be connected directly to your home's cold water supply, or through the cold water valve on the washing machine. Installation instructions for both methods can be found on page 14 of the User Manual, which can be downloaded as a pdf from this website.

Question

Dryer will not turn

We have had the DV419 Electric Dryer for a year now, tonight we pushed start and the dryer will not turn. How do I troubleshoot to see what is wrong? Maybe the belt broke or fell off? How to I open it up? Where can I get a technical manual.

You can't fix it yourself. It's definitely the belt but it might have been caused by a bad motor. That's what I'm dealing with now and they've sent 2 broken replacement motors. The dryer has an automatic shutoff when the belt breaks. Samsung only has authorized repair dealers that can fix your dryer. They literally have to take the whole thing apart. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Please make sure the door is closed and latched completely. If the door is not closed properly, the dryer will not run. Check the lint filter to make sure there is no blockage of air which can prevent the dryer from operating properly. Try cycling the power to the dryer by unplugging/replugging or turning the circuit breaker off then on again. Reset the cycle and press the Start/Pause button. If the dryer still won't run, it may require service. Samsung recommends having the belt or any other issue requiring disassembly handled by a qualified technician to ensure it is done properly and safely. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

What can I do - my dryer rolls my laundry up into a ball and prevents it from drying and tricks the dryer sensor into thinking the laundry is dry.

What can I do to stop this? Is there a solution, recall or modification to fix this?

The only thing you can do is set the time for a short dry time then take it out, undo the ball and dry it again. I know, what a pain. Apparently this is common with all these newer dryers.

Thanks for your question. Some people have found that the large capacity of the DV419 can cause sheets to become twisted and roll up into a ball, which can interfere with their ability to dry. A simple solution is to add 3 to 4 towels to the dryer. This should take care of the issue.

Samsung dryers are considered to be quiet. However, it is normal for the dryer to hum from the high velocity of air moving through the dryer drum and exhaust system. Many noises can be minimized with proper leveling, so you may want to review the leveling instructions in your User Manual, which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website.

Many dryers list the spin RPM. This would be helpful to compare models, rather than just low, high, extra high.

While it's common to list the spin speed of washing machines, particularly for front loaders due to the RPMs, Samsung does not generally publish the spin speeds of dryers. The speed is important in washers in order to extract the maximum amount of water from the clothes. In dryers, the heat settings and moisture sensors tend to be more important factors.

I'm sorry to hear your DV419AEU is not heating. The most common cause of the dryer not heating is obstructed air flow from a clogged lint trap or vent ducts. Please check the vents for blockage. Other factors to check are to make sure the dryer is connected to a dedicated 30-amp power supply that is functioning properly, and an appropriate heated dry cycle is selected. If you've checked each of these suggestions and the dryer still will not heat, it will require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

Should I use a dryer sheet when using the Steam Cycles?

Some articles online say using them in the steam cycle may result in temporary stains on clothing. Is there a different product I should use instead for the steam cycles? Or are they not needed at all for the steam cycles?

Samsung recommends following the instructions from the manufacturer of the dryer sheets in determining whether they should be used for steam cycles in the dryers. If you're using the dryer sheets to reduce static electricity in the clothing, you may find less static produced during steam cycles even without the use of the dryer sheets.

Thank you for the question. Flow sensing is a feature on Samsung's washers and dishwashers that measures water flow, and is not related to the dryers. Please see the attached image for an explanation of the icons on the control panel.

I hope this helps to clarify information about your DV419!

A blinking "rectangle" in the display window of your DV419AEU is not an error code but rather an indication that the Wrinkle Prevent feature is in progress. When Wrinkle Prevent is activated, the dryer will continue to tumble without heat for up to 90 minutes, and you can remove the items at any time. To activate and deactivate Wrinkle Prevent, press the Wrinkle Prevent button on the control panel.

The "rotating dashes" on the display of your DV419AEU are an indication that the Wrinkle Prevent option has been activated, which enables the drum to continue to tumble for up to 90 minutes after the heated cycle as ended. To deactivate this mode, simply press the Wrinkle Prevent button on the control panel so it is no longer illuminated.

Thanks for the question. If the dryer appears to be "stuck" in a cool down phase, please make sure the Wrinkle Prevent option is not selected. This option will continue to tumble the drum without heat for up to 90 minutes after the heated dry cycle has ended to help prevent wrinkles from setting in. During the Wrinkle Prevent phase, the display should show a "scrolling rectangle" of lights; this option can be activated or deactivated by pressing the Wrinkle Prevent button on the control panel.

If Wrinkle Prevent is not selected, try cycling the power to the dryer by unplugging it then plugging it back in or turning the circuit breaker off then on again. Check the vents for blockage, since the most common cause of the dryer not heating is obstructed air flow from a clogged lint trap or vent ducts. Other factors to check are to make sure the dryer's dedicated 30-amp power supply is functioning properly, and an appropriate heated dry cycle is selected.
