The DV409AER actually has 4-way venting capability, meaning it can be set up to vent out the back of the dryer, the bottom, the left or the right. The unit comes with the vent pipe outlet in the back. If you are standing behind the dryer, looking at the vent pipe outlet, the vent is 4” from the bottom, 12” from the left side, and 15” from the right side. All measurements are from the center line of the vent opening (see picture below). Keep in mind that stacking the units will raise the bottom of the dryer up 39" off the ground (the height of the washer), so the center of the vent opening will actually be 43" off the ground, while mounting the dryer on pedestals will raise the unit 14" off the ground, placing the center of the vent outlet 28" off the ground.

Hello, I bought DV409AEW this type of dryer and a washer and shipped both to my Mom in Lebanon. The electricity there is 220 /50 HZ. The washer worked fine using a transformer from 220 to 110. The dryer is what I'm not sure how to wire it; they have two hot wires coming from the wall and a ground 220/50 HZ, Can you please explain to me how to wire this dryer in Lebanon? do you have a special hook that will work in Lebanon for this dryer?

Thank you for the question. The DV409AEW and other Samsung electric dryers that are designed for use in the U.S. and are rated for 240V/60 Hz and 30 amp power supplies. I can't tell you whether they could be converted for use in other countries with different electrical standards, so I would suggest contacting a licensed electrician in Lebanon for assistance. It is also important to note that the manufacturer's warranty on your washer and dryer are not transferable outside of the U.S.

I'm sorry to hear your DV409AEW is not heating. If you've cleaned out the vent ducts and lint trap and the dryer still isn't heating, check to make sure the dryer is plugged into a dedicated 30-amp power supply that is functioning properly, and an appropriate heated dry cycle is selected. If the dryer still will not heat, it will require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for the question. If the dryer has power but it will not start when you press the Start/Pause button, please make sure the Child Lock has not been engaged, which would be indicated by the Child Lock icon (looks like a child's face) being illuminated on the panel just above the Time and Signal controls. To activate or deactivate the Child Lock, press the Time and Signal buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds.

If the Child Lock is not activated and the dryer will not start, make sure the door is closed securely and an appropriate cycle has been selected. If it still won't start, try cycling the power by turning the circuit breaker off then on again, and resetting the dryer by unplugging it for 30 seconds then plugging it back in. If the problem persists, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

My DV409AER/XAA has started making a pinging noise.

My dryer is about 18 months old. It started making a pinging noise today. The dryer is tumbling well and seems to be drying the clothes. The pinging seems to be coming from inside the machine. I've checked for buckles, zippers, etc. Nothing appears to be loose on the front or back panels.

Thanks for the question. If your dryer is making this type of noise, it is likely that there is something loose either inside or out, that is being knocked around while the drum turns. If you're unable to locate the source of the noise inside the drum or on the outside of the dryer, then I would suggest having a qualified technician assist you in identifying the source. For assistance locating an authorized service center in your area, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to help.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your dryer. The hourglass symbol should indicate that a cycle is in progress. However, if your dryer appears to be running but the drum will not turn, it may require service. Please click on the link below then select "Troubleshooting ► > The Dryer Drum Does Not Spin" for troubleshooting and to request service, if necessary: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...
