Questions & Answers for samsung 7.3 cu. ft. Gas Dryer

Question

DV330 Gas - Venting - When you say it vents from the left are you facing the front of the machine?

I'm interested because if you're looking from the back, the venting on the left will work for me. If you say front, then venting on the left will not resolve my problem. Can you recommend any gas dryers that will allow venting on the right when facing the front of the dryer?

Yes, the side vent on the DV330AGW gas dryer is on the left when facing the dryer. The gas valve is on the right rear side on Samsung gas dryers which prevents them from venting on the right. Besides the left and rear, Samsung dryers can also be vented out the bottom, using the DV-1A Side Vent accessory kit.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Please make sure the door is closed and latched completely. If the door is not closed properly, the dryer will not run. Check the lint filter to make sure there is no blockage of air which can prevent the dryer from operating properly. Try cycling the power to the dryer by unplugging/replugging or turn the circuit breaker off then on again. Reset the cycle and press the Start/Pause button. If the dryer still won't run, it may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

Does gas dryer DV330AGW only allow low temperature on Delicate cycle?

We just purchased DV330AGW, and although the manual refers to using Perm Press and Normal with low temperatures, the only cycle we can manage to get low temperatures with is Delicate, which is a problem because the cycle is too short for regular loads (only 27 minutes). Is low restricted to only Delicate? If so, why? If not, I think our dryer may have a problem. Thank you for any information you can offer.

Thank you for the question. While it is correct that the Delicate cycle is the only one of the Sensor Dry cycles that allows the Low temperature setting, the 27 minutes displayed at the start of the cycle is a pre-programmed estimate and the cycle should run for as long as it needs to for the sensors to detect a dry load. Another option would be to set the temperature to Low on a Manual Time Dry setting, and then set the desired time.

If your DV330 Sensor Dry Delicate cycle will not dry your clothes effectively, there are some other troubleshooting items to check before requesting service (see troubleshooting section of this website or submit a new question for assistance). If your Manual/Time Dry setting will not allow you to select Low heat, then please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether service is necessary.

Question

Installing washer and dryer under counter?

In the manual it says that there is a 17" clearance needed for alcove or closet installation, but I have read there is no clearance needed to install under a countertop. What is the implied difference in installing it under a counter? Is it the fact that there is no door on the front of the dryer? Will installing the dryer and washer under a countertop cause the dryer to overheat? The installation is on an exterior wall. Are there any additional venting precautions that should be taken? Possibly an intake circulation vent to increase airflow? If we do install doors on to cover the washer and dryer should we leave them open during use?

Thanks for the question. The installation requirements and specifications found in the manual are intended to ensure sufficient air circulation for the dryer to prevent it from overheating and allow the hot air produced by the dryer to dissipate. If the dryer is installed under a counter, enclosed on the back, sides and top, then you were to add doors to the front, in effect you'd be creating a "closet" around the unit, likely preventing sufficient ventilation. I would suggest consulting a qualified gas installer for further assistance determining whether your installation conforms with local and national codes.

The DV330AGW, like other gas dryers, relies on natural gas to heat the dryer, though a conversion kit for liquid propane is also available. The 120V/60 Hz/15-amp electrical connection simply powers the controls, not the heating element. Samsung does make an electric version of this model, the DV330AEW, which would require a more powerful 240V/60 Hz/30-amp electrical connection.

Whichever type of dryer you choose, Samsung recommends having the gas and/or electrical connections installed by a qualified professional. For assistance locating the appropriate professionals, please call 800-SAMSUNG or contact your local appliance retailer, gas provider or electric company.

I'm sorry to hear your DV330AGW is not heating. The most common cause of the dryer not heating is obstructed air flow from a clogged lint trap or vent ducts. If your new dryer was installed using an older vent duct, please check it for blockage. Other factors to check are to make sure the dryer's gas connection is functioning properly, and an appropriate heated dry cycle is selected. If you've checked each of these suggestions and the dryer still will not heat, it will require service. Please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

The "sensor bars" are located on the inside of the drum just below the door opening. These "bars" detect the level of moisture in the drum while the clothes are drying. Wiping them clean of lint or debris periodically helps to ensure the dryer's Sensor Dry settings can function correctly.

Samsung gas dryers, including the DV330AGW, can vent three ways - back, bottom or left - but not right due to the location of the gas connection. The new side vent kit, model number DV-1A, is available for bottom or left venting options on gas dryers. For pricing and availability, please visit www.SamsungParts.com or call 800-627-4368 to speak with an agent who can assist you.

Question

How does one remove the dryer tumbler and drive belt? Where can I find the Service Manual?

I have just ordered the side vent kit (part DV-1A/XAA). I have reviewed the installation instructions (provided via the online PDF). The instructions call for:

"Remove the from assembly, tumbler and drive belt. Refer to the service manual for disassembly and reassembly of dryer."

I cannot locate any "service manual". A "user manual" came with our dryer (model # DV330AGW/XA), but no service manual. I am hoping that I will be able to install the side vent kit myself - I just need some instructions regarding the removal of hte tumbler and drive belt. Please help.
