Question

Why does my dryer not start spining when I turn it on?

When I turn on my dryer, everything appears as though there isn't a problem, but the dryer doesn't spin and the motor doesn't make any sound. The timer starts counting down and after a minute or two, the signal sounds that the clothes are done.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your DV316LGS. Please try cycling the power to the dryer by unplugging/replugging or turn the circuit breaker off then on again. Reset the cycle and press the Start/Pause button. If the drum still won't turn, it may require service. I'm sorry to hear your DV316LGS dryer is not heating. The most common cause of the dryer not heating is obstructed air flow from a clogged lint trap or vent ducts. Please check the vents for blockage. Other factors that could effect the dryer's ability to heat include checking the gas line (I'd recommend contacting a qualified technician for this), and make sure an appropriate heated dry cycle is selected. If you've checked each of these suggestions and the dryer still will not heat, it will require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.
