I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Please confirm the following before calling for service on your DV218AEW dryer:
- Is the dryer plugged in or hardwired to the appropriate 240-volt, 60 Hz, 30-amp power supply? Please try cycling the power by turning the circuit breaker off then on again.
- Is a cycle selected?
- Are the vents clear of built-up lint and debris?
- Is the door closed securely?

If all of these points check out but the dryer still doesn't turn on when you press the Start/Pause button, your dryer likely requires service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

How do you bypass the lint vent? Technical Question

I am the Construction Manager for a new High Rise Condo building and one of our owners has difiiculty with his dryer. Due to the City of Los Angeles Building Code we have an Automatic Booster Fan tied into the dryer plug outlet and when the smsung DV219AEW dryer operates the lint filter within the dryer does not seem to pick up any lint. All of the lint ends up in the Booster Fan lint collector which is difficult to reach and clean.

Is there anyway to ensure that the machine lint collector first collects the lint (located at the base of the door) and the Booster fan lint collector only collects what's left over?

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If placed correctly, the lint screen should collect the majority of lint produced during the drying cycle. I can only suggest that the owner check to make sure that the lint screen is clean and securely in place each time the dryer is used.

The DV219AEW will continue to show "END" displayed on the control panel until the door is opened to remove laundry then closed again. This is a very low wattage LCD and uses very little energy, similar to the clock display on a stove or microwave, for example.

Thanks for the question. I'm sorry to hear your DV219 is not working properly. Please try cycling the power by turning the circuit breaker off then on, and make sure the vents are not clogged, an appropriate cycle is selected, and the door is completely closed. If the door is not closing properly, the dryer will not be able to start.

If the problem persists, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

I'm sorry to hear your DV219AEW is not heating. The most common cause of the dryer not heating is obstructed air flow from a clogged lint trap or vent ducts. Please check the vents for blockage. Other factors to check are to make sure the dryer is plugged into a dedicated 30-amp power supply that is functioning properly, and an appropriate heated dry cycle is selected. If you've checked each of these suggestions and the dryer still will not heat, it will require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Please make sure the door is closed and latched completely. If the door is not closed properly, the dryer will not run. Check the lint filter to make sure there is no blockage of air which can prevent the dryer from operating properly. Try cycling the power to the dryer by unplugging/replugging or turn the circuit breaker off then on again. Reset the cycle and press the Start/Pause button. If the dryer still won't run, it may require service. Thanks for the question. It's not unusual to hear an occasional clicking noise in the dryer, and these sounds are usually caused by items such as buttons or zippers in the dryer clicking against the drum. If you hear a clicking sound and there are no clothes in the dryer, check to see if something like a button or paper clip has come loose or fallen out of a pocket. The dryer, which is driven by a belt and motor, may make some noises when it tumbles even if there are no items inside, but if an unusual noise is persistent or becomes louder, or if the dryer is not performing properly, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether your dryer would benefit from a service visit.

Samsung's electric dryers, including the DV219AEW/XAA, are designed to operate on a 220 volt supply and cannot be converted to operate on 120 volts instead. Samsung's gas dryers are designed for the lower voltage, however, but would also require a natural gas or liquid propane supply in order to heat.

Question

dryer not operating, what can i do to trouble-shoot prior to calling service?

2 yrs old; no problems until now; i went into dryer and manually turned drum to try to find a piece of dryed clothing - a drying cycle had ended earlier. The drum provided a little resistance and I heard an unusual sound when I was able to manually rotate the drum. Everything seems normal when I attempt to use the dryer (eg. power on, indicators stating drying; controls work) but the dryer doesn't operate, that is heater go on and the drum rotate. Please help.

Annual cost and energy use estimates (EnergyGuides) are determined as part of Energy Star testing standards. The U.S. Department of Energy does not currently have a system for rating the efficiency of dryers, because they've found in the past that there is not a significant difference in energy use between models. They may reevaluate the need for such a program in the future.

The high spin speeds available on Samsung washing machines, along with the Sensor Dry options on the dryers themselves, do help to reduce the amount of energy used to dry your laundry, however. Thank you for considering Samsung!

The DV219AEW is an electric dryer, so the power consumption is based on wattage rather than gas BTUs. The DV219AEW uses 268 watts when the dryer is operating without heat, and 5445 watts used during heated dry cycles.
