I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Please confirm the following before calling for service on your DV218AEW dryer:
- Is the dryer plugged in or hardwired to the appropriate 240-volt, 60 Hz, 30-amp power supply? Please try cycling the power by turning the circuit breaker off then on again.
- Is a cycle selected?
- Are the vents clear of built-up lint and debris?
- Is the door closed securely?

If all of these points check out but the dryer still doesn't turn on when you press the Start/Pause button, your dryer likely requires service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

How do you bypass the lint vent? Technical Question

I am the Construction Manager for a new High Rise Condo building and one of our owners has difiiculty with his dryer. Due to the City of Los Angeles Building Code we have an Automatic Booster Fan tied into the dryer plug outlet and when the smsung DV219AEW dryer operates the lint filter within the dryer does not seem to pick up any lint. All of the lint ends up in the Booster Fan lint collector which is difficult to reach and clean.

Is there anyway to ensure that the machine lint collector first collects the lint (located at the base of the door) and the Booster fan lint collector only collects what's left over?

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If placed correctly, the lint screen should collect the majority of lint produced during the drying cycle. I can only suggest that the owner check to make sure that the lint screen is clean and securely in place each time the dryer is used.

Annual cost and energy use estimates (EnergyGuides) are determined as part of Energy Star testing standards. The U.S. Department of Energy does not currently have a system for rating the efficiency of dryers, because they've found in the past that there is not a significant difference in energy use between models. They may reevaluate the need for such a program in the future.

The high spin speeds available on Samsung washing machines, along with the Sensor Dry options on the dryers themselves, do help to reduce the amount of energy used to dry your laundry, however. Thank you for considering Samsung!

The DV219AEW will continue to show "END" displayed on the control panel until the door is opened to remove laundry then closed again. This is a very low wattage LCD and uses very little energy, similar to the clock display on a stove or microwave, for example.

The DV219AEW is an electric dryer, so the power consumption is based on wattage rather than gas BTUs. The DV219AEW uses 268 watts when the dryer is operating without heat, and 5445 watts used during heated dry cycles.

If the dryer continues to run when the cycle has ended and a blinking rectangle appears in the display, the Wrinkle Prevent option is selected. You can deactivate Wrinle Prevent by pressing the corresponding button on the control panel, above the Signal controls.

Wrinkle Prevent provides approximately 90 minutes of intermittent tumbling in unheated air at the end of the cycle to reduce wrinkling. The dryer can be opened and clothes removed at any time during the Wrinkle Prevent cycle.

Please check to see if Child Lock is activated. If Child Lock is on, you would not be able to change the cycle selection. Child Lock can be activated/deactivated by pressing the Time and Signal buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The Child Lock icon would be illuminated above the time remaining display when Child Lock is on.

Next, make sure the door is closed completely. If the door is not closed, the dryer will not power on.

If Child Lock is deactivated and you are unable to change the cycle selection; or if the door is closed and you are unable to power the dryer on, try cycling the power to the dryer by turning the circuit breaker off then on again. If the problem persists, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further.

Question

Do you have a kit to exhaust the vent out of the left side of the dryer?

I noticed there is a knock-out on the left side of the dryer. We do not have enough depth in the space to fit the dryer with the pipe up the back and I would like to have the option to go out the side.

Yes, the DV219AEW can actually be vented any one of four ways: through the left or right side, as well as the back and the bottom. For information about the DV-1A side vent kit, please contact your retailer or visit SamsungParts.com. Samsung recommends having the side vent kit installed by a technician. I'm sorry to hear your DV219AEW is not heating. The most common cause of the dryer not heating is obstructed air flow from a clogged lint trap or vent ducts. Please check the vents for blockage. Other factors to check are to make sure the dryer is plugged into a dedicated 30-amp power supply that is functioning properly, and an appropriate heated dry cycle is selected. If you've checked each of these suggestions and the dryer still will not heat, it will require service.
