Questions & Answers for samsung 7.3 cu. ft. Sensor Dry Gas Dryer

Question

maximum gas dryer vent length?

Every gas dryer model has a maximum allowable vent length, but it doesn't specify whether that length is vertical or horizontal. If the dryer vent is running vertical straight up through the attic in a two story house, does it affect the venting, even though it is still within the maximum allowable length for any samsung gas dryer?

The direction the vent goes is immaterial. What's important is the restriction of the air flow. National code is something like 25ft but local codes may be different. From that max, you have to subtract 2.5ft per 45 degree bend & 5ft per 90 degree bend. If it's a flex vent, fuggedaboutit, not code just about anywhere because lint can clog it up easily.

Thanks for the question. While the manual does not specifically address this type of venting, Samsung does not recommend venting the dryer vertically through upper floors of the house and the attic. One reason is the potential for moisture to condensate in the vent prior to exiting. In addition, while Samsung dryers do have powerful blower motors, they are not necessarily designed to force lint vertically across long distances.

sounds like your a do it yourself person. open the back and check what type of duct fitting you would need. then go to the home improvement store in your area and see if they have what you might need to do the job. if so remove the exsisting duct and knock out the pre-stamped hole on the side. or call a quilified service tech. or if you don't what to go into the dryer itself they make 90% fittings that can be fitted to the dryer duct and go out on either side of the unit provided that you have room behind the dryer after final placement.

The dryer vent on your DV210AGW can be converted to vent out the bottom or the left side using the DV-1A side vent kit, which is available through SamsungParts.com or at most major retailers that carry Samsung appliances. Samsung recommends having the kit installed by a qualified technician.

The DV210 and DV220 dryers both have Lint Filter Indicators. The difference between the two models is the door trim color: the DV210 has a white-trimmed door to match the WF210 washing machine design, while the DV220's door has silver-colored trim to match the WF220.

I do not have a picture available of the back of the DV210AGW, but I can tell you that the gas hookup is on the lower right rear of the unit, when facing the front. (If looking at the rear, it would be on the lower left.)

The DV210 and DV220 both have powder coated drums rather than stainless steel, which is the tub material on most other Samsung models. DV228 is not a correct model number, but I think you may have meant to ask about the DV328, which is also 7.3 cubic feet but has the stainless drum. The DV328 comes with a drying rack (which is available for purchase as an optional accessory for the DV210 and DV220) and has some additional preset cycles and options. There are also some design differences between the models. The DV328 has a chrome painted door and premium handle design; the DV220 has a silver painted pocket handle door design; and the DV210 has a white door with a pocket handle.

All these models have sensor drying technology, Wrinkle Prevent (tumbles the clothes for up to 90 minutes after the cycle is complete to help prevent wrinkles from setting in), and can be stacked on top of Samsung washers with the SK-5A stacking kit, or mounted on WE357A7x pedestals for additional storage and less bending. Samsung's electric dryers have 4 venting options (rear, bottom, left or right) while the gas dryers have 3-way venting (rear, bottom or left side), with the optional DV-1A side/bottom vent kit accessory.

The sound you're hearing is probably the Mixed Load Bell, which can be turned off by pressing the Mixed Load Bell button on the control panel of the DV210.

The hourglass symbol on the display of the DV210 indicates a cycle is in progress. The blinking lights in the shape of a rectangle indicate the Wrinkle Prevent option is activated. Wrinkle Prevent will continue to rotate the drum for up to 90 minutes after the heated cycle has ended to help prevent wrinkles from setting in. To deactivate this option, simply press the Wrinkle Prevent button on the control panel.

I'm sorry to hear you're having a problem with your DV210AGW. If the dryer is running for only a few minutes then stopping, it may be the result of insufficient air flow. Please check the lint filter, lint trap housing and vent ducts for blockage. If possible, stand outside next to the dryer vent flap while the dryer is running. If you cannot feel hot air blowing outside, then there is probably a clog in the vent ducts and they should be cleaned out.

If the vent is clear and air does blow outside, try running a Timed Dry cycle. If the Timed Dry works but Sensor Dry does not, your dryer will likely require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.
