Thank you for the question. Please check to make sure the door is closed properly - the dryer will not run if the door is not latched. Other items you can check include emptying the lint filter screen, checking the vent ducts to make sure they aren't clogged, and making sure a cycle is properly selected. If these suggestions don't resolve the issue, try cycling the circuit breaker off then on again to reset the power. If the dryer still won't run, it will likely require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

if you have any mechanical ability take it apart. start with the top, two screws in the back hold it on. with those removed pull the lid back off of the tabs. then remove the control panel (4 screws). then remove the mounting bracket behind the control panel(4 screws). next unplug the control panel(two plugs) and set aside. next remove the front bracket for the drum(4 screws). pull up and out guiding it through the mounting slots. then pull drum straight out. now you can get to motor or belt tensioner. check to make sure spring is on the tensioner and bracket on floor. you may need a new belt as i did. if belt is stretched or spring is off tensioner the tensioner will drop down and activate a kill switch for the motor and dryer will not run. the control panel will work but when you hit start all you will hear is the click of the relay but dryer will not start. the tensioner spring had come of mine. i replaced the belt, put it back together and it works like new!

If your DV209 electric dryer will not start, please check the following:
• Be sure the door is latched shut.
• Be sure the power cord is plugged (or hardwired) into a live electrical supply.
• Check the home’s circuit breaker and fuses.
• Press the Start/Pause button again if the door had been opened.

I'm sorry to hear your DV209 will not start. Please check to make sure the door is closed and latched securely. If the door is open the dryer would not operate but there wouldn't be an error code to let you know it either. Next, make sure the Child Lock is not activated by pressing the Time and Signal buttons simultaneously for at least 3 seconds.

If the dryer still won't start, it will likely require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

On the dv210 dryer to disable the child lock you hold down the "Temp" & "Time" buttons together for about 5 seconds and it will disable the lock. They don't tell you that in the manual.

Annual cost estimates are determined as part of Energy Star testing standards. The U.S. Department of Energy does not currently have a system for rating the efficiency of dryers, because they've found in the past that there is not a significant difference in energy use between models. They may reevaluate the need for such a program in the future. The high spin speeds available on Samsung washing machines, along with the Sensor Dry options on the dryers themselves, do help to reduce the amount of energy used to dry your laundry.

The DV209's lint filter is accessible at the bottom of the door opening. Simply open the dryer door, lift the lint screen from its housing, remove the lint from the screen and housing well, and replace the screen. Some people also like to use lint brushes with long handles that are specifically designed to reach into the lint traps and can be used to clean lint from the vents, as well.

Question

My dryer works with the exception of no heat. What could this be?

I've had the dryer for 1 1/2 years and it has worked perfectly up until a couple of weeks ago. I've cleaned the exhaust system and it is free of lint and unobstructed.
The drying temprature seems stuck at room-temp.

I'm sorry to hear your DV209AEW is not heating. The most common cause of the dryer not heating is obstructed air flow from a clogged lint trap or vent ducts. Since you've already checked these, other factors to check are to make sure the dryer is plugged into a dedicated 30-amp power supply that is functioning properly, and an appropriate heated dry cycle is selected. I would suggest cycling the power to the dryer by turning the circuit breaker off then on again. If you've checked each of these suggestions and the dryer still will not heat, it will require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

This sounds like a heating element has stopped working. Could be an internal fuse, or even the element itself. If the lint trap and outlet ducks are not constantly kept clean, then the heating element can actually overheat and burn itself out.
