Would like to know why the plastic brackets to put the top rack up and down keep breaking. I have already replaced them and now they are broke again

I have no kids that are playing with the dishwasher and we don't put the top rack up and/or down.

I don't even adjust the brackets and I have had the same issue. The brackets are of poor quality and they seem to crack and break off falling into the bottom of the machine causing other issues. I have had mine replaced six times with the same issues re-occuring. Samsung needs to replace this part with something better.

The plastic used to make the brackets is not rated to withstand the heat that is created by the dishwasher, therefore, they keep breaking because the plastic becomes brittle over time. you will probably need to have them replaced every 6 - 8 months. I have this same complaint with the same dishwasher, I have had mine replaced 2 times now.

How do I get replacements for the plastic levers on the top rack of the dishwasher?

On the top rack of the dishwasher there is a plastic lever each side that you use to raise/lower the rack. Three on each side have broken off and the remaining one is cracked

I am having the same issue. I found that a gasket in the bottom of the dishwash that was factory installed is too large and is allowing water to seep into the drain system. Again Samsung wants to do nothing to a dishwasher that is 6 months out of warranty and poorly built. I should have gone with the American product that costs half as much and has a drying system that actually got the plastic dry.

I'm sorry to hear you're receiving a 9E error code on your DMR78 dishwasher. This code indicates a Low Water Level error. Try running a cycle with detergent but no dishes. If the code returns, service may be necessary to determine the cause and correct it. Please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Please try the following steps to set up the Delay Start on your DMR78AHS dishwasher. If, after following these instructions, you are still unable to use the Delay Start option, please call (800) SAMSUNG for assistance.

Select the desired Cycle and Options for the load. Press the Delay button until the desired time is reached (i.e. 2H, 3H) in one-hour increments for up to 24 hours. The Delay indicator and the display will flash. Press the Start/Cancel button to begin counting down the delay time. The cycle should automatically start as soon as the time expires.
To cancel a delay, press the Delay button during the count-down process.
To cancel a delay and a cycle, press Start/Cancel once to drain and turn off the dishwasher or Press Start/Cancel twice to turn dishwasher off without draining. Note that you can select options (Sanitize, or Delay Start) before starting a cycle; but if you change the cycle after selecting an option, the original cycle is reset.

The gasket you're referring to is a filler for the space between the dishwasher and your surrounding cabinets. It is there for cosmetic purposes only, so it is entirely up to you whether you'd like it to be visible or tucked behind the cabinets. Thank you for choosing a Samsung dishwasher!

LE is the functional error code indicating there is a leak. Samsung recommends closing the water supply valve, disconnecting the circuit breaker, and contacting service. I would suggest either contacting your retailer to discuss your service options, submitting an online service request through Samsung.com (see link below), or calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

Question

Rack upgrades for DMR78 Series Dishwasher?

We find that the tines on the plate supports are way too close together and that dishes will not stand up properly, especially in the lower rack. As a result, the tops of the plates do not come clean. Are there replacement plate supports available to solve this problem? Instead of an emphasis on holding a complete 14-place setting, this dishwasher needs more space for everyday dishes, some of which are often quite thick, convenient space for pots and pans, and space for large (diameter) cups and drinking glasses. We are delighted with the cleaning action, the drying action and the almost silent operation, but the design of the racks and plate holders is definitely lacking.

I agree. We have the same issue on our DMT300 series and hope Samsung will recall this rack and replace it with a upgraded design no charge or at lease at cost. In doing this, Samsung would win repeat cusomers to their products and fortify consumer confidence in their products. Something sorely lacking in today's market.

Question

SE code Error

I've had this unit a week. I first got this SE "drain error" upon installation. Made sure the drain hose was not crimped and tripped the breaker to reset the machine. Unit worked fine. Awesome, must have been the hose upon installation. Two or three cycles the next week the Error "SE" has returned. Noted standing water inside machine. I pulled the unit from under the counter, put the drain hose nice and straight into the sink, reset the breaker again and still error SE. Hose is clean machine is new. Circuit errors? Bad machine? Thanks Bill.

Thank you for the questions. I'm not aware of plans to "upgrade" the DMR78AHS, though a new Samsung dishwasher, the DMT300 was recently released. This new model has many of the same features as the DMR78, including the hidden heating element, hard food disposer, and digital leak sensor, as well as quiet 51 dBA operation. In addition, the DMT300's efficient fan-driven condensation drying will be enhanced by air vents to aid drying. Like the DMR78 and many other dishwashers on the market, Samsung recommends using a rinse aid, such as JetDry, to aid drying.

Keep in mind that some customers may post issues on the internet prior to employing some of the tips and tricks that can be found by reading the User Manual, and the FAQs and Troubleshooting pages on this website. Therefore, for a more complete perspective, I would suggest downloading a pdf of the User Manual, and perusing the Support section on Samsung.com before drawing any conclusion.

We appreciate your interest and consideration!

Question

The dishwasher has lost all power?

I have checked the power supply and it is ok.

The bottom of the dishwasher is filled with water after the last use.

I see that the dishwasher has a "leak detector" which when activated shuts off the electrical supply. Could this be what has happened?

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Before contacting service, please check the list below, since it may be difficult to determine if water remains in the bottom of the dishwasher because the cycle was interrupted by opening the door or by the water supply being turned off by something other than the internal leak detector.
- Make sure the door is completely closed and latched.
- Make sure the water supply line is connected and the water supply valve is fully open.

If, after checking each of these, the problem is not resolved, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

Question

Keep 'END' status on until door is opened.

Is there a way to keep the 'END' status on after a wash cycle finishes until manually cleared or at least until the door is opened. It disappears and different people in the house have no idea if the dishes inside are clean from last wash or new dirty ones.

Yes, the DMR78 dishwasher has a hidden heating element which boosts the water temperature as needed to achieve the preset temperatures, though for optimal performance the supplied water should be set between 120-140°F.

Question

My dishwasher emits a foul, rotten smell whether it has dishes in it or not. What causes this?

After a day of not running the unit, it starts to put off a rotten smell that gags the whole family. This is the second house the unit has been in and I cannot find any reason for it. If I can't make this thing stop stinking, I will have to get rid of it and go to another brand.

Since the dishwasher itself does not have any parts that would cause an odor, it's likely that the odor is caused by water, food particles or residue left sitting in the machine. I would suggest trying the following steps to rid the machine of odors:
1. Add a chlorine based detergent and run the machine empty for an entire cycle with the Sanitize option selected.
2. Check the spray arms for food particles clogging the holes.
3. Wipe down the sides of the dishwasher, especially around the edges of the door.

Please also refer to page 20 of the User Manual for instructions on keeping the dishwasher clean and cleaning the spray nozzles.
