Question

Certain Blu ray discs will not play

I have a BD-P3600 I tried to play a few Blu ray discs and the player would not play them at all. The movies it would not play are: Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, Will Smith Seven Pounds (Started but was tiling while trying to play), Swordfish, The Blind side.

It would play Avatar and the first season of True Blood.
I then noticed after coming to Samsungs website that the player had missed 2 firmware updates so I tried to force the player to get them but it said it was already up to date. FALSE! So I downloaded the latest and ran it via USB and a USB flash drive. I then tried to play the movies and this time Seven pounds would not even play a little.
"This Disc can not be played" is what comes on the screen and ejects the disc.
Note: the movies play just fine in my Ps3.....The Samsung player has hardly been used. Maybe 4 times since we got it. We have not had a lot of time to watch movies and of course now that we wanted to watch them on our Home system they do not play.

I hope Samsung reads these boards.

Another posting on Samsung suggests that the problem is the BD-live function. Most Blu-ray disc have BD-live and so the disc will instruct the player to connet to the studio's server. They do this to download movie previews and ads. But, if the server is busy there can be a long wait.
So, go into setup, network, bd live and set it to prohibit.
Then try your disc. The Sound of music would never play.
It would sit with the FOX logo and searchlights flashing.
But, when I set BD-live to prohibit, the movie loaded in 3 minutes and played.

You'll need the Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick adapter, which can be purchased at many major retailers or at the www.Samsungparts.com website.

If you already have a WIS09ABGN LinkStick, connection instructions are found on page 32 of the owners manual.

Check to make sure that your disks are claimed, that no smudges or visible cracks are appearing on the disc surface.

If you disks are clean, you may want to check to make sure that your player has the latest firmware update available.

The storage on the BD-P3600 is sufficient for the latest firmware update. If you're unable to install the latest firmware update, try contacting the Samsung customer service center and let them know what happens when you attempt to update. They may be able to assist, and if not, they may be able to assist you with setting up of repair for your unit.

I just found a procedure online:
Remove the batteries from the remote and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Then put the batteries back (new ones if you think they might be worn out).
I didn't need new batteries and now my remote works well again.

To reset the BD-P13600, first make sure that the disc trays empty. Then, power off the unit and unplug it. With the unit unplugged, press the power button for 20 seconds. Plug the unit back in, and then press and hold the FF>> button until the unit resets.

You should then be able to access the Blu-ray players menu and features. If you aren't able to access the menu, you may need to contact the Samsung customer service center at 800-SAMSUNG to speak with a representative who can assist with troubleshooting.

The 3D movie will not play since the player (BD-P3600) doesn't support the 3D format.

Some discs have both movies (regular and 3D) on the same disc. If you have that option, try playing the non-3D version.

That code will have to be entered online at the www.Netflix.com/activate website so that your player is linked with a Netflix account.
