Question

Update made player unworkable

I did the latest up date for my BD-P1600/XAA over the internet and when it finished it asked for my language preference but it will not let me select anything. Also when I auto played a disc after this it skipped right to playing the disc like it is supposed to but it wouldn't take commands from the remote or onboard control panel. The only buttons that will do anything are the power and open buttons on both the remote and control panel after the update.

Replacement remotes for Samsung products can be obtained at the www.samsungparts.com website.

Other options, such as universal remotes, can also be used as replacements, but may not have all the functions of the original remote.

Some discs have that warning no matter what update or player it is played in.

In most cases, you can bypass this message by pressing the FF>> button or by skipping to the next chapter of the Blu-Ray title.

Question

On two separate blu ray discs, the player refuses to play the film's dialogue. What can I do?

The latest eg. was the film, "Midnight in Paris" which I obtained thru Netflix. I can hear the musical score but no dialogue. I played the BluRay disc on a newer Sony BD player and experienced no problems. What can this odd problem be?

It may be set to play surround on a stereo configuration, or stereo on a surround configuration. Most likely the former.

Try changing the audio soundtrack in the menu of the Blu-Ray player, and selecting the correct audio track in the disc's menu before pressing the PLAY button to start the movie.

Why won't it play DVD's?

RE: BD-P1600 unit: Further to my last question, which has received NO ANSWER, I have done EVERYTHING to ensure it is NOT a problem with the lens - i.e. - cleaning, etc. The BLU RAY lens works perfectly, Blu Ray movies play perfectly, the unit WILL PLAY CD's (I am assuming, using the SAME LENS as used for regular DVD's...) - SO - WHY WILL IT NO LONGER PLAY A "REGULAR" DVD, this happened AFTER I upgraded to FirmWare V2.19 (the latest) - I can thus only "assume" that the FW update is THE PROBLEM. WHAT IS GOING ON?

I’m sorry to hear that you're having this problem with your Blu-ray player.

I’d recommend trying to reset the unit by turning the unit on and making sure that the disc tray is empty. Then, press and hold the FF>> button until the unit resets. Then, go through the initial setup and power down the unit. Then, try and restart the unit and you should have proper operation.

No voice track

When playing a blu ray discI I get sound but no voice track. I tried two different movies and got the same result. I tried changing the audio settings to bitstream and that did not help.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

Log into the current Netflix account that your player is linked to (on the Netflix website) via a computer and select "Deactivate the device". Once that's done, LOG OUT of the account. Now, run the Netflix App on the Blu-Ray player. It will ask for a new code. Log into the new account you want to use, and then go to http://www.netflix.com/Activate **while logged in with the new account**. Enter the code from the screen into the webpage, and your player should reflect the queued titles in your player.

BD-P1600 stuck on Main Menu...

Hi,

My blu Ray player gets stuck on the movie's main menu. It loads the interface with play, scene select, etc, but will not play.

Today I tried TRON Legacy. Tonight I will try another. DVDs play fine, which is my movie collection. Blu Ray is a new thing for me, so I have to rent movies to test them.

Any ideas or things I can try to make it work.

4. Are there any error messages?
5. If freezing or audio drop out, what is the time stamp or chapter when it happens?
6. Has another disc been tried?

Question

BD-P1600 freezes/won't play movies since latest update

Since this is a known issue (see message board), I would like to know what Samsung is going to do for all the customers that now have useless blu-ray players. Please do not tell me to unplug/restart player (I've done that - it still doesn't work# and please do not tell me to call for servicing - this is an issue with the system - not my unit. I would like a resolution to this issue for me and all of the other owners, or else I will be contacting my states attorney general about a consumer complaint #remember the class action Apple had when their update broke alot of iPhones)?

Will HULU app be available on my this unit?

With all the firmware updates and the teams of developers, Why have an update to put HULU on this unit. We should not be pressured to buy new devices just to have access to these apps. If Blockbusters APP was taken away in one of the updates then HULU can surely be added.
