Questions & Answers for samsung BD-P1590

Question

If Netflix or Blockbuster go out of business, will you then offer an update for Hulu+ on this device?

Are you ever going to offer other applications since it is impossible to get all content through the applications that are on this device right now? Hulu+, Amazon, etc. Thanks.

In fact, Blockbuster, although not going out of business just yet, has sent notice that they are going to discontinue streaming to this device at the end of next month. Booh!

But perhaps this means there will be a practical way to add another app via firmware update that deletes Blockbuster, thus freeing up resources on the device.

I'm not sure what will be offered in an instance like this. At this time, there are no plans to switch or offer additional apps for that model.

I would start with updating the firmware on your device by plugging it into a cat5 connection or using WIFI dongle.
you can find the update function under setup/network.
once you have the firmware up todate try again it should work just fine if not run a CD/DVD cleaner though it (the DRY one with a little brush on the disk DO NOT USE any WET cleaners on the disk head ever and never touch the laser)

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

We recommend you check for firmware updates for your player, as version 2.22 is listed on the product support page as being released on 7/5/2012.

http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=161615&modelname=BD-P1590

If your player has the latest firmware, we recommend you answer the following questions and email the answers to qasupport@sea.samsung.com along with your full model code and serial number and we will be in touch.

1. Where was the disc purchased or what edition is it?
2. Is this the 2D or 3D version, if 2D is the label facing up?
3. What exactly occurs once you press enter on 'Play'?
4. Are there any error messages?
5. If freezing or audio drop out, what is the time stamp or chapter when it happens?
6. Has another disc been tried?

Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

Mine did the same thing. I turned off the player and then opened it, removed the disc, turned it off. Then, turned it back on and held down the "stop" button for several seconds. "No disc" showed up on the display. I was then able to open the player and put my disc in and it worked fine. I also read somewhere else that if "stop" doesn't work to try the FF button.

Not all manufactures will have codes that are represented in the owners manual. We offer the codes for a large array of television manufacturers, and while we are able to offer a wide selection, not all manufacturers or all products will be available.

In this case this particular manufacturer is not supported, as codes are not available in the manual.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue with updating your player.

A common step that is missed is unzipping the file directly onto a freshly formatted thumbdrive. Try unpacking the file directly from the desktop to the formatted drive, and it should be able to install.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue playing DVDs.

A few things to try would be checking your output resolution settings. DVDs are 480 resolution, and sometimes adjusting the output resolution on the player ( in the video menu) can help improve the picture.

It is Wi-Fi capable, however the Wi-Fi is not included on the player.

In order to make your Blu-ray player connect wirelessly to your router, you'll need to purchase the separate Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick wireless adapter. This can be found at many national retail stores, as well as the www.Samsungparts.com website.

Instructions on how to configure your Blu-ray player after connecting the WIS09ABGN LinkStick can be found on page 30 of the owner's manual.

Turn the player off and open and remove the disc. Then, press the stop button or the FF button for several seconds until "no disc" shows on display. It worked for mine. Then, you should be able to load the disc and play normally. If that doesn't work, then try turning it off and unplugging it, plugging it back in and try above process again.

Question

Why will the BluRay player not show "NoDisc" when I turn it on?

I have a Blue-ray disc player Model BD-P1590. When I turn it on, with the disc drive empty and no USB ports plugged in, it shows a "LOAD" message on the display panel. The TV eventually displays "No Disc," but the display panel continues to say "LOAD." If I put a disc in, the disc will begin to play, but the Blu-Ray player will not respond to any commands from the remote or the buttons on the player itself (pause, stop, etc.). What am I doing wrong?

Question

Does the Samsung BD-P1590 have a "freeze" problem?

I've noticed that every once in awhile my blu-ray player will freeze up and quit responding to the remote or buttons on the unit. I have to unplug it for a minute and, once plugged back in, works fine for a few weeks. Then the same issue. It's almost like I am "cycling" a modem. Is there a fix for this?
