BD-P1500 doesn't have a capability to access all the apps that's available on newer bluray players. You can connect it on the net thru an ethernet cable that's connected on a router but that's only for firmware update thru the internet.

You can connect your Blu-Ray player to the internet but not wirelessly. You must have a wired connection. I just finished chatting with a service agent after buying a wirless LAN adapter only to discover that I cannot even use it on this player because it doesn't support a wireless connection.

If you have problems updating the firmware (like I did)... The USB method was the ONLY method that worked. The Internet and CD methods both froze at step 4/4.

The downloaded zip file is placed in a subfolder when you extract it. The .ruf file must be in the root directory of the usb drive to be recognized by the blue ray player. It should start pretty soon after inserting the usb drive.

mine did that as well, I even left it running over night and it never started. What I did was plug an ethernet cable directly from my router into the back of the bluray player, took the disc out and hit the "menu" button. you have to go into network setup and turn network capabilities on through there. Once you have turned that on, go into "system setup" and at the bottom there is an option for "system update" it will start automatically. Everything has worked for me after that.

check to see if the firmware is up to date, as newer movies require updates to play.. usually an update is out every 6month-1year.... does the player get really hot while playing? does it skip and freeze a bunch before it stops playing? cuz mine is up to date and always starts to skip and freeze about an hour into a movie.. its from too much heat

Your player is a 2009 model. Smart Hub was introduced as a feature in the 2011 TV & Blu-ray line, so there are no Smart Hub updates for you to worry about.

If you'd like to apply this update, you can apply via a wired Internet connection or via a USB flash drive.

Question

Is there some sort of upgrade/update for my Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-ray player that will allow it to load the newest Blu-ray disks?

My BD-P1500 Blu-ray player is not able to play the latest Blu-ray disc I purchased, "Prince of Persia, The Sands of Time". While it appears to load the disc and while it plays the previews on the disc, it will not play the main feature. The title screne appears but the menu selection "play, etc..." does not and the disc does not play the movie. Does my player need an upgrade and if so, where do I need to go to get it? I purchased the unit at Best Buy. Thank you.

Ethernet cable connected from player to modem, with remote press menu and follow set up. If you get the unable to connect pop up go to network conections check settings, set to auto setup. When you get it right it will update, once done your player turns off, if it doesn't unplug and start over. Worked for me.

The instructions located to the Firmware download on the Samsung.com/support website requires that you unzip the file first, since it's in a .zip format.

Try unzipping the file straight to a freshly formatted USB drive and try the update again.

Thanks for your support of Samsung products!

depending on what model player you have, you will need an ethernet connection in order to retrieve the update, or you can download the update from samsung, burn it to a disk, and apply the firmware update that way. Go to Samsung support, look for your model, download the upgrade, and FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. Failure to do so can damage the player.

It may sit for hours, and never auto shutdown.I have to unplug the darn thing to be able to use it.It plays dvds just fine otherwise. IS THERE A FIX????? Thanks for your time.

the exact thing happened to me when i tried a firmware update with a USB drive. It works a lot better if you plug an ethernet cable into the back of the machine. Once you have done that make sure that you have taken out any discs you might have left in the player. hit the "menu" button and go into "setup". You have to turn on network capabilities under "network setup" (it's just changing a "no" to a "yes") after that you have to go into "system setup" and then "system update" it should download the newest firmware directly from the internet...
