Customer questions and answers for samsung BD-EM59C
Question
No audio with HDMI connection
I have my BD-EM59C connected to my TV which is then feeding audio to my soundbar via digital optical. In this configuration, there is no audio. I have two other appliances (DirecTV box and HDVideo Camera) in this same configuration and the audio works fine. I have swapped HDMI cables and HDMI TV ports, the problem always follows the BD-EM59C. I have tried multiple variations for the EM59 audio output settings, nothing works. Could the BD-EM59C be defective and I should request warranty support?

Coaxial Digital audio out does not match HDMI's audio
I have set up my BD player with the HDMI cable connected to the TV and the Coaxial audio out connected to my HiFi AV receiver. I have a choice to listen through the TV speakers or via my HiFi system. In most cases, the audio playback are the same. However, on some BluRay discs that have special features with commentary tracks, then the audio from HDMI and coaxial are different. I believe it is a firmware bug that sends the wrong sound track to the coaxial digital audio output socket.
Please make a firmware available soon.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
We have conferred with our resident home theater specialist and she indicates that this all depends on how your audio settings are set. She recommends you refer to the Digital Output Selection chart on page 51 of the following user manual.
To SamsungTech73, Thank you for the link to the digital audio output setup. I read that there is a section that says "Outputs only main feature audio stream so that your AV receiver can decode the audio bitstream. You will not hear BONUSVIEW audio and Navigation Sound Effects."
That seems to explains why I did not hear audio that I expected. I was watching bonus material and when some PIP bonus footage is shown on the corner of the screen, the audio didn't come out from the coaxial, yet the correct bonus audio came out to the TV via the HDMI connection.
I couldn't figure out how to read this table on page 51 of the manual. On the left column I found a box that says audio bitstream on BluRay Disc and a box that says definition of BluRay Disc. But there is no explanation on what these mean. Can you provide an example on how to read these columns and rows?
I assume the left column lists all possible audio contents on the BluRay disc and the row on the top lists all possible audio setup I can pick from my AV receiver and depending on what type of decoding I pick, I may get different audio quality that are show in the interacting boxes listed below. Apparently, the coaxial output is always inferior to the HDMI audio and in the case of unprocessed bitstream, some audio track is missing all together. Can you confirm if that a correct interpretation of this table?

Question
Should everything work the same whether the dvd player is connected wifi or wired?
I installed the Samsung smart view app on my iphone 5 and it did not see the dvd player( player was connected with a wired connection and visible by my allshare pc). Switched to the wifi connection and the app worked.
Also everything the dvd player could see when wired is now gone. Which includes my allshare PC.
I NEED the wired connection for access, speed and security!
Wired and wireless connections come from the same router (verizon FIOS model).
I'm in the market for a new TV so this app needs to work with wired or Samsung TVs get crossed of the list.
Thanks, Scott

I have a Prime account with Amazon and I thought I saw an app online to enable streaming movies?
If not, I need to log in to my account thru the browser on the blu ray/TV, correct.

I'm trying to do the USB firmware update. I have extracted the zip and put the folders on to a sandisk cruzer 16G key. Installed the key while the dvd was on, Settings/support/software update. Searching for update files...then says cannot find update files. I tried 2 different types of usb keys. Whats going on?

We recommend you review the upgrade guide listed under Manuals & Downloads > Firmware via the following link:
My player is frozen and will not play discs. When I load a disk into the unit the front display just stays on load with nothing showing on the TV.
Is there a manual reset for this unit? I tried holding down the play/stop button for 10+ seconds and nothing happens. Everything just seem locked up. I have played 2 3D discs in the unti and it worked fine but now non of them with load and play.

No, the Samsung wireless keyboard is only compatible with certain mid-to-high-tier models in the 2012 TV model line that include the necessary Bluetooth receiver for the keyboard to work. We recommend you connect a HID-compliant wired or wireless keyboard with USB dongle.
Have tried Samsung Android and Iphone apps. It finds the bd-em59c player , but does not connect. Drops connection instantly. Does not ask for permission on the player. UPNP is enabled on router and it does not show any error messages.
