The operating system on the Blu-ray player is designed by Samsung. The Smart Hub interface includes a version of Adobe Flash 10.1 that works with the included web browser, but an actual version of Flash from Adobe's website cannot be installed, so some online content may not be accessible.

When you press the Netflix button on your remote, or click on the Netflix app in the Smart Hub window, the Netflix screen will come up. It will ask you if you are a member. Once you select that, press the select button (the one that's in the middle of the directional buttons) and you can use the on screen keyboard to enter your information.

For further clarification, we know of no way to use more than one Pandora account at a time. We were merely pointing out that you could use more than one, though it would require entering the credentials for each account every time you wished to use one of them.

Coaxial Digital audio out does not match HDMI's audio

I have set up my BD player with the HDMI cable connected to the TV and the Coaxial audio out connected to my HiFi AV receiver. I have a choice to listen through the TV speakers or via my HiFi system. In most cases, the audio playback are the same. However, on some BluRay discs that have special features with commentary tracks, then the audio from HDMI and coaxial are different. I believe it is a firmware bug that sends the wrong sound track to the coaxial digital audio output socket.

Please make a firmware available soon.

Thank you for the link to the digital audio output setup. I read that there is a section that says
"Outputs only main feature audio stream so that your AV receiver can decode the audio bitstream. You will not hear BONUSVIEW audio and
Navigation Sound Effects."

That seems to explains why I did not hear audio that I expected. I was watching bonus material and when some PIP bonus footage is shown on the corner of the screen, the audio didn't come out from the coaxial, yet the correct bonus audio came out to the TV via the HDMI connection.

I couldn't figure out how to read this table on page 51 of the manual. On the left column I found a box that says audio bitstream on BluRay Disc and a box that says definition of BluRay Disc. But there is no explanation on what these mean. Can you provide an example on how to read these columns and rows?

I assume the left column lists all possible audio contents on the BluRay disc and the row on the top lists all possible audio setup I can pick from my AV receiver and depending on what type of decoding I pick, I may get different audio quality that are show in the interacting boxes listed below. Apparently, the coaxial output is always inferior to the HDMI audio and in the case of unprocessed bitstream, some audio track is missing all together. Can you confirm if that a correct interpretation of this table?

We have conferred with our resident home theater specialist and she indicates that this all depends on how your audio settings are set. She recommends you refer to the Digital Output Selection chart on page 51 of the following user manual.

I bought this unit specifically so I could watch Amazon Prime. I wrongly assumed that because Amazon Prime is on my Samsung SmartTV, it would, of course, be made available on this Samsung Blu-Ray/DVD player BUT IT IS NOT!

C'mon, Samsung, let's get Amazon Prime added ... far more people watch that service than the oddball collection of movie&TV apps you currently offer on this device.

Question

My player is frozen and will not play discs. When I load a disk into the unit the front display just stays on load with nothing showing on the TV.

Is there a manual reset for this unit? I tried holding down the play/stop button for 10+ seconds and nothing happens. Everything just seem locked up. I have played 2 3D discs in the unti and it worked fine but now non of them with load and play.

you'll have to unplug the unit from power for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.

PANDORA does not work

Unable to get Pandora. Have existing Pandora account. Blu Ray keeps telling me to activate account and then go to settings. My account is already activated and there is absolutely nothing in the Settings menu about Pandora.Have spent hours with Samsung with no resolution

Try first logging into your Samsung Apps account by pressing the red "A" button. After that, you should see your login name appear on the screen, and be able to launch Pandora.

Question

How can I get DVDs to play better?

I just set it up and playing a DVD the sound is slow and choppy. It all seems to be a function of running slowly. I'm using a wireless connection, but that should make no difference for DVD play.

We're sorry to hear you're encountering these issues with your player. Are you using a home theater system with it or is it directly connected to your TV? The reason we ask is that sometimes audio can sound slow and choppy depending on how the sound is set up. Does the sound issue occur with just one DVD or all DVDs?

We recommend you apply a firmware update that was just released on 5/22/2012. The easiest way to do this via the Online method. From the player's home screen, select SETTINGS > SUPPORT > SOFTWARE UPGRADE > BY ONLINE. Make sure there are no discs in the player at the time of the upgrade and that the drive tray is closed. If you need additional guidance on how to upgrade firmware via this method or the other available methods, please refer to pages 28-29 in your product manual or via the file below.

Regarding your Netflix question, is there a specific error message it's giving you. We recommend you power off the player and unplug it for 1 minute or more. Once you plug it back in, power it back on and set the appropriate timezone. Try launching the Netflix app again to see if the issue persists. If not, enjoy using the service. If the issue does continue, we suggest you do a Smart Hub reset.

Web browser does not load...

On BD-EM59C I can't load the web browser. When I tried to start it, the app freezes up. I'm connected to internet using wi-fi and I can access other apps(netfix, etc...).

Since you did indicate whether your player is connected via a wired or wireless connection, we recommend you do a power cycle of your network.

1. Remove the Ethernet Cable from the player (non-wireless users).
2. Unplug the BD Player and press and hold the POWER button on the player for 20 seconds.
3. Disconnect the power from both the router and the modem and let all devices sit unplugged for 2 minutes.
4. Re-connect the power to the modem and turn it on. Allow the modem to boot up completely and wait for all lights to illuminate.
5. Re-connect the power to the router and turn it on. Allow the router to boot up completely and wait for all lights to illuminate.
6. Plug the BD Player back in and turn the power on.
7. Connect the Wireless Dongle or Ethernet Cable and allow to sit for 1-2 minutes before connecting to the network.

If the issue persists, we recommend you a reset of Smart Hub. Please refer to the following article to perform these steps.

how do I connect an external keyboard or mouse

it is impossible to use the web application with Remote control. The cursor is so slow that makes the app unusable.

I couldn't find so far instructions of how to connect any kind of keyboard...

Samsung currently only produces a wireless keyboard that is compatible with certain higher-end Smart TVs in the 2012 model line.

Your Blu-ray player has the ability to recognize HID (human interface device) components such a keyboard or mouse. While we cannot directly recommend a specific keyboard and mouse for use, we recommend you purchase a wireless keyboard with a built-in trackpad and plug the wireless dongle that comes with it into the USB port on the player.

The web browser is not a complete web experience, as it would be on a PC. It's meant to be a light browser, so downloading special software will not be possible.

Is there a different update for a better pointer/cursor?

I am having problems using my pointer/cursor when I am on the Smart Hub web browser. It has taken 33min from home page to switching sites, using the address bar to go to the flixster login page and putting in my username and password due to the pointer/cursor being jerky, erratic, very slow (even while on the very fast setting), and too mechanical. It would make it easier and faster if each letter/number was highlighted rather than a pointer that has these problems stated above. Using the web browser as of this point it is too time consuming and isn't very user friendly. Making the we browser pointless to use. I have updated my player to the newest firmware updates that are available to me as of 07/18/2012. Is there any kind of updates that will make the pointer/cursor more fluid in movement and faster to use to make it more user friendly?

Unfortunately, there is no current announcement I can offer about expanding the functionality of the remote for the browser. However, you could consider hooking up a mouse and/or keyboard to the Blu-ray player. I've attached the details.

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, there is not a way to update the Adobe Flash player yourself. Your browser on your Blu-ray player is meant for light Internet usage, and watching videos often requires special software that cannot be installed on your device. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Cannot access Internet: ERROR_MODEL_BIND

I cannot access Internet after I update software to latest version 001013. Everything looks good in the Setting->Network->Network Status. However, when I tried to connect to Netflix, Huluplus etc. it always said "ERROR_MODEL_BIND". Tried to reset smart Hub but still the same problem. Also, other devices (for example, Samsung Galaxy S II) connecting to the same WI-FI network can access Internet without any problem.

Performing a reset to Smart Hub will return Smart Hub back to original state. By returning Smart Hub to default state you will remove all downloaded app and reload the original apps that were came on the TV. After the reset, Smart Hub will need to reconnect with Samsung's server this will also force all updates to be done to Smart Hub. To perform a reset follow these steps:

1. Press the Smart Hub button on the remote to open the Smart Hub.
2. Press the Tools button on the remote to open the Settings menu.
3. Press the up or down arrows to select Reset.
4. You may be prompted for a password, but if you never set this, the default code is 0000.
5. The reset of the Smart Hub will then complete.

Why would I need to ask the app developer when it's ypur blu-ray player that needs a better firmware update and you put the app on your player?

even if I contact flixster It wouldn't do anything the blu-ray player would still need an adobe flash player update for it to work. so why is the flixster app offered on the smart hub? more then 90% of any web browsing has to have a newer adobe player, so why is web browsing offered on the blu-ray player if you can't see anything from news sites(like local or national) or most emails anymore. so far I have had this smart hub blu-ray player and half of what it is suppose to do doesn't actually work at all for what it is advertised to do and from what is loaded on it that is suppose to work. really it wouldn't be that hard to make a firmware update that can fix all of these problems and I wouldn't cost much to fix the problems. this would also make the people that have this player very happy and sell millions more if everything work as advertised and the apps and web browsing worked properly.
