Netflix wifi streaming

Has anyone been able to successfully stream Netfllix via wifi to the BD-EM57C? I can access my local pc and get to the internet via other apps, but Netflix always says it's not connected to the internet when connected via wifi. Will try it wired when I can make up a long enough network cable.

bought the em57c recently. followed the startup procedure and entered the code that came up on screen into the netflix web site and had no trouble watching movies that i had problems with when using my d5700 player.

Question

Can not connect to Smart Hub(Blu Ray BD-EM57C)

or any other apps such as NetFlix and Pandora. I have tried everything, from rebooting modems and player. I followed all the trouble shooting advice still nothing. I changed DNS to 8888 and then 8844 and still nothing. Nothing is freaking working. I had this item less than month.

Just talked to tech support after trying a number of things and they confirmed there is a problem on the server side. Wont be fixed for a few days :(

i just live chatted with a rep. and they told me that they are issuing a new version of the firmware to permanantly fix the problem. They told me a few days.

We are having temporary server issues. For most users, the hard reset and power cycling is fixing the issue temporarily, and I understand that will be the permanent fix. You'll find directions for how to generally reset a Samsung device here:

Question

Keep losing DLNA connection

When I access my Netgear ReadyNAS from my (BD-EM57C) it plays for a while (20-40 minutes) but then it gives me an error saying it lost the connection. I tried it on my XBox (same movie) and it plays fine. Any ideas?

I have the latest firmware on the unit.

Have you checked your router to see if it supports multicast streams, do you have the DVD or nas atached to a switch. Some switches have issues.

We recommend you try performing a power cycle of your network.

1. Remove the Ethernet Cable from the player (non-wireless users).
2. Unplug the BD Player and press and hold the POWER button on the player for 20 seconds.
3. Disconnect the power from both the router and the modem and let all devices sit unplugged for 2 minutes.
4. Re-connect the power to the modem and turn it on. Allow the modem to boot up completely and wait for all lights to illuminate.
5. Re-connect the power to the router and turn it on. Allow the router to boot up completely and wait for all lights to illuminate.
6. Plug the BD Player back in and turn the power on.
7. Connect the Wireless Dongle or Ethernet Cable and allow to sit for 1-2 minutes before connecting to the network.

If that does not resolve the issue, we recommend you perform a system reset.

I reset by going to settings then system, arrow over to Reset it starts everything over and you have to reinstall all your apps but so far so good no neflix problems.

I ran into this problem after my power went out in a thunderstorm. I tried reseting the dvd player, and the smart hub account. What actually ended up working was unplugging my wireless router from its power supply, letting it sit for 5 minutes, and then plugging back in. I essentially reset the router itself. The stream was being blocked because the router wasn't broadcasting properly. After the reset, I had to reconnect my blu-ray player, and everything worked fine after that. Also, if you connect to netflix thru the smarthub feature as opposed to the netflix button, it loads faster. Just wait until you see the icons reset and then it will be smooth sailing from there.

Question

Smart Hub no longer works

My BD-EM57C is one month old. Smart Hub worked for three weeks, then I began to get a blank screen with the word "Installing" in upper right corner. It will stay in this state as long as I leave it (over 24 hours) - it never times out nor does it give an error message. I went to settings and checked network status and also checked software - I am connected and up-to-date. I tried to reset by holding the stop button - but the system never reset.

Mine has done the same thing. I tryed the "Hold the play/pause button in for 8 seconds with no disk in player" trick. it didnt work for me. Still no Smart hub or netflix.

HDMI Signal keeps dropping

I am on my second EM57C where the HDMI signal keeps dropping. I've tried multiple HDMI cables and also, different TV's. The drops are sporadic and happen when I am playing DVDs and streaming Netflix. I've tried the dvd players on multiple TV of different brands. It still happens. I feel as if it is getting worse as the player keeps getting more and more updates.

Could this be a universal problem with these players where either the software or hardware is failing at a high rate? It seems odd that the players are less than a few weeks old and they both have the same issue? Is this a universal problems with these players? If so, what is Samsung doing about it?

Samsung - saw ur response, hope u see mine....I have very same issues and they are definitely getting worse with each "upgrade". Model# BD-EM57C/ZA. Serial# ZUNP1T1C101824W. Just registered my blu-ray player tonight, hoping to find some help. It's almost excruciating to try and watch some streaming programs/movies, and embarrassing in front of company. Already called cable company and had my signal tested, that part of the equation is working great.

RollingMF - sorry I don't have a solution for you, but thought maybe Samsung needed to hear it's not just you!!

We have had the same problem, Netflix keeps downloading and installing. We just tried the reset suggestion (hold the stop button until it resets/turns off) then turn it back on, go through the setup/turn it off and turn it back on and load Netflix. It worked once, we'll see if it still works tomorrow.

Question

Samsung BD-EM57C Blu-ray Player that does not play Blu-ray. Why?

Recently bought a brand new Samsung BD-EM57C Blu-ray player (during 2012 Black Friday weekend sale). Box is factory sealed at time of purchase. Connect the blu-ray player to my TV via HDMI cable (provided for in the box). Updated to the most recent firmware (USB type, October 16, 2012) that I got from Samsung.com. Blu-ray player does not play any of the 5 Blu-ray discs that I bought to test it out before I updated the firmware and the problem persists after the firmware update. However, it plays every DVDs that I load in it (before and after firmware update). I have reset the blu-ray player twice after the updated firmware and the problem still persists. I don't know what to do other than to return the player to the store. It's a blu-ray player that has never played a Blu-Ray disc only DVDs. Any suggestions?

I just purchased the same model of Samsung BD. It has played blu-ray discs thus far. it is possible that you just have a fluke and should trade it for another one. If the same thing happens then upgrade to a higher level BD, hopefully I didn't just get lucky and have one of the few BDs that work.

Network password number ?

When attempting to hook up the dvd player to wifi it detects the player by name brand and signal strength. The next step when it asks for some kind of password infuriates me as I don't know what that is or where to find it. I have tried a Linkys and a Netgear and both ask for a password. HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are being asked for a password which is very likely to be your WEP password which is setup within your wireless router or wireless modem. Either way someone had to of set this up for you if not you. If you don't know how to get your WEP password call your service provider and they can walk you through reseting or eliminateing your WEP password. If you are still having the same issues you will have to call your Router manufacture for the same help. My advice would be to keep your WEP password but record it as it is too many characters to try to memorize. One more thing set up the WEP security on your modem only, this makes it very difficult for anyone to piggyback on your modem from the outside.

How can I get enough memory to download the Pandora app?

When I try to download the Pandora app, I get a message that I don't have enough memory. Someone at the Help Desk told me to insert a USB drive, which I did but it was no help. How do I get the machine (BD-EM57C) to recognize the USB drive and then download Pandora successfully?

Tried to use Smart Hub Apps, but failed to install them several times, perhaps due to poor network connection. Now network is working, but 107Mb of the total 108Mb of memory is used up and I only have two of the default apps loaded. Nothing else that I've tried will load, and the system tells me I don't have enough memory to load anything I try to load.

Found something in System Settings called "BData management" (or something like that), but it's grayed out and I can't use it.

I'm running firmware 1010 now - still no joy.

Hard reset didn't do anything. Memory still used up and DB still grayed out.

Question

How do I find out what Video and Audio Codecs my player will handle?

Tried to play some old home movies that I've converted to PC files, and plugged into the system via a USB flashdrive, but got the message "Video Codec not supported". What Video Codecs are supported? Am I going to have the same problem with Audio Codecs?

I'm not sure what video codec my files are using, but I can probably figure out how to convert them to something else that will work using VirtualDub or something like that. I'd rather not go to that effort if my current codecs are going to be supported in a future software release. Any chance of finding out if that is a possibility, or are the Codecs part of the permanent software?

Smart Hub Memory

Can you add more memory? If so please let me know. If not, that's just crazy! Why offer all these apps and not have the ability to use them? I currently have 3 apps in my default and it says I am using 92.31 out of 103.00.

I just had a long on-line chat about this with 3 different agents. according to them, there is no way to add more memory. hundreds of apps and only 10 MBs of space for apps. ??? You can delete some of the ones that it came with and add other ones instead, but that's it! arrrgh.

Question

Blue ray player Unit turns on on it's own when watching TV. How Do I stop this?

Player turns on to smart hub on its own when I'm watching TV. TV is though dish network satellite. I must manually go back through my Dish network remote and change back to satellite DBS connection.
The remotes for the TV and Blu ray are separate and not intergrated. It's annoying and my mother does not know how to do the 6 steps required to change it back to the program she was watching on TV.
The TV is a 1080P Panasonic.
How can I prevent this? The blu ray remote works fine to operate the unit. Help?
The smart Hub does not make a connection with my wireless internet through my router. I show 3 bars but I'm assuming my service will not handle the activity. I have internet though satellite, the only way I can get it out here in the mountians.

Try reprogramming your remote or remove the BD player from your devices on your satellite receiver.

Question

Software Update Error Code 800: Resource Error

I cannot upgrade my BD EM-57C firmware. It just gives me the 800 error code over and over.

My current software is:

2012/01/04_001003

The attempted download is:

001013

It stays at 0% and then gives me error code 800.

Where can I manually download the file to upgrade the player? The support site has no firmware files! What kind of support site has no firmware?
