Yes, the 3D television processes the 3D signal and produces the picture for the glasses, but a 3D player needs to send that signal to the TV.

You must have a 3D player. A 3D player will play all media types but a 2D BlueRay will not play 3D movies even though your TV is 3D.

Question

Cannot unzip latest firmware download

I downloaded the latest firmware download (BSP-E5300WWB-1009.2) on an USB memory stick for my Blue Ray Disc player, but I cannot extract the file (I've used the Windows XP extracting tool and the 7-zip extracting utility without success.

Also, on some Blue Ray discs the player will experience frame freezes. It does not happen with regular DVD's. Can you give me a clue? The player is practically new (about two months old# and is hooked to a Samsung HD TV -- three months old. No problems with the TV.

Await your reply. Either email #fhernandez@comcast.net# or phone #609-693-3284).

Frank,
I downloaded the same file. Try saving it on your desktop first. Extract it to the default named folder but to your desktop instead of directly to your USB drive. After it is extracted, copy it to the USB drive. Worked well for me and updated with no problems. Does take a few minutes - so be patient.

Question

I cannot get my player to power on now

I was playing a disney movie last night and the movie hung and the player became unresponsive except for the power off function.
I restarted the player and the movie and the movie stopped in a different spot and the only thing I could do was to power off the player.
I removed the disc and put in a non-bluray and now I cannot get the player to power on all the way, the display stays off but I can use the eject button and the tray will open.
I unplugged the played for approx 30 minutes and tried to turn on the player, same symptoms, display will not come on but the eject button works, also the tv (which is also samsung) says no signal.
At this point my player is useless as nothing will play and I can't even get to the main screen on the player.
I have only had the player maybe 3 months

To get the app on your Blu-Ray player, you will need to get a SmartHub account, if you don't have one already in order to download the app via the Smarthub, Also you Blu-ray player will need to be connected to the internet in order for this to work. Here is an article that will help with this : http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00031749&fm_seq=31917

Question

Can I record with it? If so on what DVD/ +RW or on Blu-Ray Disc

I have my DVD/Blu-Ray Player hooked up to my 40" HDTV, through a DVR that is supplied by Optimum Online.net
On the DVR you're allowed to record about, 18-20 hours of movies, and programs. After that you have to start deleting them in order to keep recording new/different movies.
What I want to know is:

Can I use the DVD/Blu-Ray player/recorded to record either some or all of the list of movies I have on my DVR? , Some are "On-Demand" and some are "Pay-per-view", and some are just series we like to watch weekly. (Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, etc...)

If so how?"

and... how can I get "Zuluy Pandora, Netflix without a cable modem in that same room where the DVD player is?

No, this player does not allow recording. Regarding your 2nd question, this player only offers 5 apps. The player would need to be connected to a wired or wireless Internet connection.

Apps are added as the content owners make software available for the Samsung Apps platform.

When new Apps are added, they are included in the list of Apps on the Samsung site, which can be found by searching your model here:

http://www.samsung.com/us/appstore/...

If the App you're looking for isn't there, it may not be available, or may be currently under development.

Thanks for your support of Samsung products.

can you upgrade the firmware so that it will be able to play .flv files?

Hi!
I have many files in .flv format, and wish to play them using this player. Can Samsung upgrade the firmware so that it will be able to play .flv files? As of today, the latest firmware, ver.1009.2 (1/6/2012) still can't play .flv files. Appreciate if you can support this format soon. tq

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

Based on our research, this player only supports a wired network connection, so we recommended you make sure an Ethernet cable is connected to the jack on the rear of the player. Additionally, we recommend you review the following support article:

http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=405063&modelname=BD-E5300

Further instruction on setting up the network connection can be found on page 16 of your product manual.
