Does your HD DVR have a HDMI in port. If so run the Blu Ray to that and then go from there to the TV. Check your AV Receiver it might have extra HDMI in ports and you run the signals that way. other than that I suggest upgrading the TV to one with additional ports.

One option is to have HDMI switch that can allow you multiple "HDMI In" connections. Need to be careful that it's not a manual switcher. The splitter might not work correctly if two HDMI sources are on simultaneously. The automatic HDMI switcher is often expensive or at a comparable price to a cheap AVR and hence the best would be to buy a cheap AVR with multiple HDMI 1.4 (with 3D, ARC, etc.).

Question

Why is it that some Blu-Ray discs will play in my BD-D6700 and other Blu-Ray discs will not play?

The Disney Car 2 Blu-Ray disc and the latest Pirates of the Caribean Blu-Ray disc will not play in my BD-D6700 player. While other Disney Blu-Ray discs will play in my BD-D6700 player. I have checked for any updates to the software on my BD-D6700 player but I am told that I have the most current software on my player. I believe that it tells me that the latest version of the software for my player is a July 2011 version. I may be wrong on the date of the version but I am told that there are no upgrades for my player.

I’d recommend trying to reset the unit by turning the unit on and making sure that the disc tray is empty. Then, press and hold the STOP button until the unit resets. Then, go through the initial setup and power down the unit. Then, try and restart the unit and you should have proper operation.

If you still continue to experience difficulty, I would recommend contacting the Samsung customer service center, and speaking to one of our chat agents at the following link:

Or you can also call them directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG.

There was a recent December Release of the Firmware, but it doesn't really address the issue of not able to play some of the Blu Rays in question (during my research, I've came across some reviews that says BD-D6500 can play the said BD movie/title while BD-D6700 can't). It seems that Samsung is little behind with BD-D6700 firmware release that fixes all these known issues.

Let's hope for the best, that the next firmware upgrade for BD-D6700 will fix all such issues!

If you get "Mode Not Supported" appearing on your screen, the Blu-Ray player is likely sending the signal in the native 480i resolution. If you have an HDTV, go into the menu of the Blu-Ray player and increase the output resolution to 720p or higher for the best results.

If you need further assistance, please reach out to the Samsung customer service center at 800-SAMSUNG.

Thanks for your support of Samsung products.

There is no "Disc Tray" on Samsung BD-D6700 Blu Ray Player. It's Front-SLOT-Loading type. Similar to some high end laptops. You just need to insert the disc in the slot (Hint: where the blue light shows on the picture of it) and mechnism will do the rest to load it.

Try one of this setting on your Samsung BD-D6700ZA
- connect the HDMI 2 terminal with HDMI cable and set HDMI Video Output to Auto, video signal may not be output.
- Set HDMI Video Output to Dual Output in order to output both video and audio signal.

For additional information please check out Samsung BD-D6700ZA Manual - page 35.

PS: In my case, I've set it on 'Auto'.

Good Luck!

When you say 'I have reset the player and nothing works.', do you mean that the Samsung BD-D6700 completely stopped working i.e. playing Blu Ray, DVD and related basic functions as well as ability to go into setup etc. If you mean nothing works in connection to apps then it might be that your internet connection (IP settings) may have been reset as well with the master reseting of BD-D6700. Check your internet connections / IP settings and hope you can set it back and reinstall the utube application. Good Luck!

Question

Anyone experiencing picture problems while using Netflix?

Almost everytime I watch Netflix on this player, the screen will sporadically flash black for a split second. Also, sometimes a single vertical light blue line will appear on the very right side of the screen and stay there.

I JUST bought a brand new Linksys E3200 router and I'd even been watching Netflix on my Xbox 360 on my old router with no image problems, so it seems very likely it's an issue with the BD-D6700.

Is anyone else experiencing these issues? What could be causing it? And how can it be fixed? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem with your Blu-ray player.

In some cases, it may have to do with the possibility that you might not have the latest firmware update loaded onto your Blu-ray player. To do this, you may need to download the instructions and the update from the www.Samsung.com/support website.

For your specific model, the firmware update and instructions can be found here:

Yup. Hulu Plus, too. Both have what appear to be buffering issues, though the 6700 is hardwired onto the network and the speed through that very same cable (checked repeatedly with a laptop) is 18-20 Mbps--plenty fast. Netflix has a momentarily blacked out screen (1/4 second or so) every 15 seconds or so. Hulu freezes, over and over.

Since the cable, switch, router, modem, and isp are check out fine, and there are problems with two different apps on the player, one can only conclude the 6700 is the problem.

If your Netflix connection troubles were ocurring on the evening of 07/17/2011 around 6-7pm EDT, Netflix streaming was down. I was having the same trouble trying to set up Netflix on my brand new BD-D6700. I thought it was the player because I just did the software upgrade. However, I tested and could not connect to Netflix on my xbox 360 either, so it was on their end. This morning, 07/18/2011, I was able to get my BD-D6700 set up and connect to Netflix with no trouble at all.

If you are still not able to connect, then you might have another problem, but this was my scenario.

For best digital audio you will require to use HDMI, because It's the only way you can get Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master audio as "Digital Audio Output" doesn't have enough bandwidth. (Both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio are relatively newer audio encoding technology and although they started showing up in 2008 AV models, since last couple of years now we have quite a few BD titles with audio being encoded using them and most of the current AVR can decode it).

See my detailed answer to another question "Audio whats the best digital output choice" in the list of Q&A of BD-D6700. It throws more light on Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. As long as you are using high speed HDMI cable (cable manufacturer might say HDMI 1.4 cable or HDMi with 3D, ARC etc.) you should be good and will have a choise to opt from either of the one.

Enjoy!

Chime: I don't think there is a 'Chime' feature / function on Samsung BD-D6700 (some Samsung TVs have a 'Chime' On/Off function).

Light Effect: There is setting for 'Light Effect' control on Samsung BD-D6700 under Settings > General > Light Effects - one can select between Always Auto / Dim / Bright.

Front Display: There is also a setting for 'Front Display' control on Samsung BD-D6700 under Settings > General > Front Display - one can select between Always On / Auto / Off.

Hope this helps!

Netflix works almost flawlessly on my 6700. Get the occasional screen flicker (rarely) and I think it is due to my limited bandwidth (2meg). As far as memory, if you are referring to available memory for apps, the system has a few hundred megs of storage.

Wireless Connection: The SSID might be hidden. Unhide the SSID Broadcasting and set a 'Access Key' or 'Network Passcode' so that only you/your devices can connect to your network.

"connect via ethernet cable but the Smart Hub doesnt start": You will either need to connect via DHCP or provide a Static IP while setting up Samsung BD-D6700ZA. Just by connecting a network cable at the back of the device it won't connect to your network/internet.

Hope this helps!

I’d recommend trying to reset the unit by turning the unit on and making sure that the disc tray is empty. Then, press and hold the STOP button until the unit resets. Then, go through the initial setup and power down the unit. Then, try and restart the unit and you should have proper operation.

If you still continue to experience difficulty, I would recommend contacting the Samsung customer service center, and speaking to one of our chat agents at the following link:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/

Or you can also call them directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG.

We appreciate your support of Samsung products, and we look forward to assisting you.

This is what it says on Samsung User Manual Page 21: "A long HDMI cable may cause a screen noise. If this occurs, set Deep Color to Off in the menu." Most probably, you have a HDMI cable issue. If you have a spare good working HDMI with 2nd TV or can borrow then check it out. Good Luck!

Question

Is there an HBO Go App For Samsung SMART TV?

The main reason I bought the UN55D7000 together with the BD-D6700 is that I was led to believe that there is an App for HBO Go. Using the SMART TV web browser does not work. Does anyone know about this App or how to make this work?

Without knowing which file formats you're using, I am unable to determine if this is a compatibility issue or the way that the media was burned onto the discs.

If you'd like, please repost with the file resolutions and file types that you're using, and I'll be happy to assist with confirming if they are supported or not. This information can also be obtained by calling Samsung customer service center at 1.800.SAMSUNG.
