Question

I cannot connect to my wireless router.

I have tried numerous times and it will not connect. I do not know if my security key is case sensitive. If it is then they are all capital letters. I do not see any capital letters as a choice on the player.

Smlewis:

If you have yet to connect wirelessly to your BD-player try the following:
1. login into your wireless router thru a PC or laptop connected to your network. If none, connect directly to wireless router.
2. Find the wireless tab, note the security settings such as
a. SSID
b. Password or encryption key or phrase. Note the case of the password, it is case sensitive!
3. Hopefully, you not using MAC address filtering. Look thru the wireless settings for MAC filtering. If it on, you may want to turn it off temporarily to make sure you can connect to wireless BD-player. Save the settings.
4. Turn on your BD-player and enter the SSID and password exactly as displayed on your wireless router.
5. If you still having problems contact Samsung or leave a more detailed description of your problem and what your have attempted so far to connect wireless to your BD-player.

Hope this helps!

If you need to setup the wireless connection, one easy way is on page 40 of the User manual. On your player, select "Settings", "Network", "Network settings". Click the "WPS(PBC)" button. It will tell you to press the WPS(PBC) button on your wireless router (near the center, front on a Linksys router) within two minutes. When the player connects, it will display an "OK" button. Press the "Enter" button on your remote to save. If this does not work for you, you may need to follow the "One Foot Connection" (for a Samsung router) or follow the manual setup stepson page 38.

I would suggest changing your security type on your router. Check to see if you router has the WPA2 security option. If it does, then change to that security and use a passphrase that you can remember but nobody else will be able to guess. It is much more secure and to connect devices all you have to do is type in the passphrase you used for the security on the router. Go ahead and google that security acronym and it will explain the security level.

Double check your router password since they are all case sensitive.Make shure to have it written down or use a password you are familiar with. When entering your router password on the player look to the left of the alphabet lettered keys and there will be a caps lock key.Used if needed, make shure the routing password is exactly the same.Good luck I hope this helps.

I'm having the same problem, after owning the product for only a few weeks. I've not found any answers or corrective measures, so I'm returning it to the store where I purchased. I'd be interested in learning if you heard from Samsung after posting this message or from any other owners?

Believe it our not, your player probably needs a software update. I had the same issue after owning it about five weeks. The Samsung tech support person was very helpful and walked me thru the software upgrade process. After installation of the new upgrade, it has worked perfectly every time.

Cars 2 crashes the menu system. To reset it, you have to unplug your player, using the power button does not work. Once you plug it back in, you can watch cars 2 one more time.

I also could not get Cars 2 to play on my samsung bluray player. It just sits at the disney castle without going to the menus. I ended up playing it on my computer that has a blu ray player and used a HDMI cable to my HDTV in order to watch it on my HDTV. This player is a joke in my opinion.

I did not have any issues with it until I did the latest update. I can't play Panda 2 now and it won't even work with any of the Star Wars movies. I am at a loss. I tried to do a hard reset and I guess I will try to unplug it to see if that helps.... Bluray is not anything new, but it sure seems to be real buggy.

I had this happen after watching Cars 2. It would play regular DVDs just fine but not the Blu-Rays. I did what was suggested on here of unplugging the player and that worked like a champ. Very frustrating that Cars 2 crashes the menu option. Hope this is patched soon. I just did the latest software upgrade which was like 12/16/11 and it still happened. Otherwise, this player is great.

I just received this bluray player as a gift.. had same issues, i was actually just about to return it today. I tried unplugging it, and now the blu rays are working. I was having the issues with all Toy Story 1,2,3 blurays not playing at all.. and Tangled was stuck on Disney Castle screen. anyway, its working now.. I too hope they fix this with next update. I called samsung about this originally and they we going to send out a box for repair... I thought that was ridiculous having to send in a BRAND NEW player for a repair already..

I got the same answer from Samsung about my problem, which sounded very familiar to yours.
I ended up turning off the BDwise feature. THat solved all my problems. Now the newest Bluray dvds play fine as well as old DVD's . It upscales the old ones to near HD quality.

On the BD D6500 Disc Player: The player's front display has a series of lighted icons... the icon farthest to the right is an up arrow with a dash under it. Simply touch it to eject a disc.
On the Remote Control: Directly above the number 2 keypad button is a gray button with an up arrow with a dash under it. Press it to eject a disc.

Question

Why does the audio go out of sync while watching movie from external hard drive?

I have a Samsung 3D Blu-ray Player, Model BD-D6500 and I attach my external hard drive to it and I watch videos via that external hard drive. It starts off playing the video just fine, but then partial way in, the audio gets out of sync and the only way to fix it is to either fast forward or rewind the video a little and play it and it will be in sync again. Why does it do this and is there a way to fix this?

I don't have an explanation as to why that happens. I don't know anything about the file format, the codecs, or how it was encoded.

You might try encoding your file to a different format to see if that helps.

i have the same problem, it happens with mkv or divx files. At first i thought it was my wireless, so i copied several movies to my USB drive and have the same problem. I also noticed that after upgrading to the latest firmware in October it is happening more. I wish they would fix this, this was one of the reasons why i purchased the player.

Like you stated above the only way to fix this is to pause, rewind or forward, which is annoying if you have to do it every minute.

If anyone has an answer to this I would also like to know. Thanks

answer 3
If you run your blu-ray player through an audio-video-receiver (AVR), most of them have a lip-sync option on them to correct this issue. If you are just using a harddrive -> blu-ray player -> tv. then you have a number of issues.

Traditional harddrives are 'slow.' A better option would to be to use a usb drive. Some usb drives vary on transfer data transfer rate. If you are looking for "faster drives" to avoid your problem, try to look for reviews or drives with the phrase "Enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost."

At least the readyboost drives have a quality control on speed. It will give you a fighting chance on data transfers rates and keeping things in sync.

If all else fails, hit pause. Sometimes things will restart together. Unless the drive is a SSD, it will most-likely go out of sync.

The problem is not with the blu-ray player at all. The problem is the video files. The blu-ray player is not meant to read long data streams from attached devices. I am sure if you were to "rip" a DVD versus a blu-ray the quality sync problem will not present itself.

This happend to me recently. It turns out that the player loss all network connectivity. I have I wired network and the router shows that it is connected. My Samsung HDTV still connects through the router. The last time I connected the firmware up dated. Maybe a bad update. However it still plays movies.

I suggest you see if you have a bigger issue that Pandora. Do any Internet Apps work for you?

This has happened several times to me. I have called support about 3 times, after varying attempts at resetting it through the software and failing they always reccommend shutting down your router and the BD player and unplugging both. Hold your breathe for thirty seconds, stand on one leg and count to ten then plug everything back in. ;)

Seriously though it works!!!

Personally I have not done or confirmed I need the latest FW update, but Samsung knows there is an issue with model. It has ran better for me in the past couple of months, but periodically and I can't determine what triggers it, it will give the "network interface error". Using the above method will correct it. It's time-consuming and for the price very annoying, I hope Samsung is finding a solution and not burdening the community to get the message out.

Finally the reason I was given, is some routers feel the device is a threat, and unsure of the device since networked BD players have hit the market over recent years. Routers play nice with standard networking nodes such as pc, other routers and switches, laptops etc. However a router thinks ... what the heck is this that's connected to me??? and drops the connection for security reasons. Makes sense to me theoretically speaking, but hopefully the issue will be forever resolved once and for all.

Distorted, how? Netflix streaming is default stretched vertically a bit. See the Netflix streaming comments on their site. And mine are always 5+/- min loading before play begins and sometimes they have to rebuffer during play attributed to slower internet connection speeds.

I saw this on my BD-D6500 set for my first use of Netflix yesterday. My best guess is that the software begins playing at low resolution then adjusts to the best possible resolution based on the internet connection. Subsequent uses of Netflix have not shown that for me.

I found one way to reduce jittery video or out of sync video and audio problems streaming Wi-Fi from Netflix. Login to your Netflix account. Look for a link called "Manage video quality settings". On that page you can select a radio button corresponding to your bandwidth speed (expressed in Gigabits/hour) from your service provider. I was able to choose a higher setting and have seen less video streaming problems.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Blu-Ray player.

The best recommendation I can make would be to check to make sure that you have the most up-to-date firmware update installed on the player. If the player still has problems with playback, it may be a hardware issue that would require service. If you'd like to have your unit inspected or serviced, you can reach out to the Samsung customer service center at 800-SAMSUNG.

Question

How can I check that the built-in wireless is working on my BD-D6500/ZA blu-ray?

I can use my wireless to download onto my kindle so I think the wireless is OK. I can play a DVD on the blu-ray; however, I cannot connect to Netflix.

Does it just say you cannot connect to Netflix? Mine does that when the connection speed is too slow. Otherwise you may be too far away from, have interference between player and your wireless router, or your router may not support Netflix if it is older.

Select the "Settings" icon, then "Network Status". If your player is connected to your router, you should see the name of your network, signal strength, MAC address, IP address, etc.

I'm citing here that you're having this problem with your Blu-ray player.

To reset your Blu-ray player to the factory defaults, turn the unit on and make sure that the disc tray is empty. Once you confirm that the disc tray is empty, close the disc tray and press and hold the STOP button until the unit powers down or resets. Once that happens, you have reset your Blu-ray player to factory defaults. You are then able to restart the player and launch the Netflix app. Keep in mind that it's possible that the player will have to reinstall many of the preinstalled apps first, and this is considered normal.

If you need further assistance, reach out to the Samsung customer service Center at 1.800.SAMSUNG.

We appreciate your support of Samsung products, and hope you get enjoyment out of your Blu-ray player.

If you are getting a "... not connected to internet..." message then, try
Check your time zone setting and make sure you have the correct time zone setting.
For the BD-D6500, use Settings/System/Time-Zone + Turn-Off + Unplug (for 20 seconds).
I am not sure the "Unplug" is absolutely necessary but, this step will make sure the DB-D6500 "completely" refreshes the unit's configuration settings.

I had the same problem and it took 4 support calls to Samsung before someone asked about the time zone setting. For some (strange) reason, the time zone setting is NOT automatic and changing the time zone is not part of the setup process. Apparently, Samsung uses the time zone setting to determine how/where to connect to the Samsung Netflix server. In my case (Eastern US), the GMT +/- 0 Hours placed me about 600 miles west of London - in the Atlantic ocean.

I’m sorry to hear that you're having this problem with your Blu-ray player.

I’d recommend trying to reset the unit by turning the unit on and making sure that the disc tray is empty. Then, press and hold the STOP button until the unit resets. Then, go through the initial setup and power down the unit. Then, try and restart the unit and you should have proper operation.

If you still continue to experience difficulty, I would recommend contacting the Samsung customer service center, and speaking to one of our chat agents at the following link:

This seems to be a problem with the upgrade. It appears that it affects the silverlight program that is used for display of netflix and other programs. When I contacted support the same day as the upgrade came out they said they already had a report of this earlier in the day and were supposed to be working on it.

Question

No video, just green screen.

I just upgraded from software version 1023 to 1024. Menus and disk playback work fine. But, I get no video with Netflix or any other Internet source, such as AOL-HD. I just see a blue-green screen. Audio is okay. The player is less than a week old. What's going on?

The Cyan screen and no audio issues are a result of issues in firmware 1024. 1025, just released hours before I wrote this, appears to have addressed this issue. Upgrade and see if you still have the problem. I had the same issue and it is resolved now. Playing Netflix seems to have improved as well - although it is still too early to say so definitively - it is re-buffering and losing connection less than before... so far.

When updates are rolled out by an App owner like Netflix, the old versions are uninstalled so that new versions can be installed. Netflix is available as a download from the “Video” section of Apps on applicable Samsung Blu-Ray players, and it is always available for download if it wasn’t automatically installed or updated on your player (provided you live in a region where Netflix is available, and your player supports the Netflix App).

If you are still unable to install Netflix, or the App has disappeared and you aren't able to find it in the Apps section, please reach out to the Samsung customer service center at 800-SAMSUNG or speak with one of our technicians at the chat link below:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/

We’re committed to quality customer care, so if we can assist, please reach out.

Thanks for your continued support of Samsung products!

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a problem connecting with the network.

In some cases, it may be that you receive this error message if you log in before the Blu-ray player has had a chance to connect to the router. To fix this, shut down the Blu-ray player and power backup. Give it a minute once it is powered up and gotten to the main menu. If you try to enter the Samsung apps or Smart TV option prior to unit connecting with an Internet connection, it will often times give this error.

It may also be that your router is not connected or may have settings that need to be adjusted. To solve this, you have to reach out to the customer service center of your router's manufacturer to see if they can assist further with helping you set up your Blu-ray player to your router.

Another option is that there may be a lot of traffic on the network. Check to see if anybody else on the network is downloading large files or watching streaming programs while you are attempting to connect.

We appreciate your support of Samsung products.
