Doesn't anyone know how to fix the streaming aspect ratio?
Several months ago, I posted a question here about the aspect ratio for streaming video being wrong for a 4:3 TV with my BD-D5700 Blu-Ray player. At the time, I posted in reference to Netflix, but the aspect ratio is wrong for *all* SmartHub services, as well as the player's own menu screens. Anything played from a disc uses the correct aspect ratio from the settings (4:3 Letterbox), but all other screens and sources squeeze the image horizontally. Changing the setting for aspect ratio has no affect on this problem.
To date, no one has posted an answer to my original question. Others have posted the same question here, and a few have received responses. The only suggestions that have been posted here by support staff are to set it for 16:9 (which doesn't help), or to contact Netflix or whatever other service is displaying the wrong aspect ratio. Netflix and Hulu have both confirmed to me that the problem is not at their end, and it is the responsibility of the streaming device to display the image correctly per the user's settings.
Why is such a simple request for help, by multiple users, being ignored? Isn't there a way to fix this in a firmware update? (For the record, my firmware is up to date as of 6/1/12.) If this cannot be fixed, this will be the last Samsung device I will ever purchase. This display error is completely unacceptable.
