Turn off security on your wireless router and see if this works. If it does then WEP will probably also work - do not use any advanced security setting on your wireless router. This player is unreliable with advanced wireless security features.

I found that by changing the Firewall protection on my router solved the problem. I have a little Linksys router that's 8 years old and the connection was fine after that.

I had gateway ping too.
I disabled firewall and entered SSID name for guests and guest password, with correct capital
letters and numbers. I have Belkin wireless router.
Blueray is working fine now. Can get on Netflix, etc.

One more thing I have found is that SSID broadcast has to be ENABLED on my router. I keep it disabled but when I shutdown my player, it will not connect until I re-enable SSID broadcast. I am using the latest firmware as of 12/29/2010. BSP-C6500WWB-1020.1

Had the same issues heres what i found...Simple... Make sure when you are entering the access or security key step that YOU ARE USING LETTERS OR NUMBERS ACCORDINGLY! On the remote i believe you change letters to numbers and vice versa by pressing the subtitle button.

had the same issue. i decided to use WPA vice WEP. i then rebooted my modem & blu ray player and used the auto function on the blu ray player to detect the internet protocals. after connected I was able to get the software upgrade. i'm now up and running.....good luck!

Was just told by support turn off the Modem, Router and Blu-Ray. Then turn back on Modem first, then Router and last Blu Ray player. However it did NOT work for me, this is a simple reset method one can try. Otherwise wait 30 minutes and be told what I was..........and risk it doesn't work. Am holding again for what appears to be another 30 minutes.

I simply restarted the blue ray player and the gateway issue disappeared.

I bought a Samsung BD-C6500 blu ray player so I could connect to my Verizon GT704WG Router/Modem from my bedroom and stream netflix etc. I expected to plug in the unit and be online in less than 5 mins like was the case with my PS3 and Macbook Pro. It took me three days to get it connected, I read every forum and complaint online and tried everything from disabling my security, shutting off WEP, u name it I tried it. After 3 days I have it working, here is how I did it.

I plugged the blu ray player directly into my Verizon Router/Modem, an update popped up and downloaded (important to get the most recent update). I was able to connect to internet and stream netflix.

I then pressed and held the stop button on the blu ray player (not the remote) to reset the settings, I unplugged the blu ray player from the router/modem and the power outlet.

On my computer I typed 192.168.1.1 into my browser to adjust modem settings, I clicked on Wireless settings and changed the Channel from the default channel 9 to channel 10.

Plug the blu ray player into power outlet, go through the setup process and I was online and could stream Netflix.

Please note that I have all the default settings on my router/modem except the channel and I am running WEP with a 10 digit password.

None of the other things people suggested worked so hopefully this helps some people out.

IT IS THE SAME SET OF NUMBER AS YOUR DNS NUMBER. Your DNS number can be found in your computer's network settings for your wireless information.

Try connecting directly to your internet modem. This will tell you if there is something wrong on your ISPs side or if there is something wrong with your home router.

This might help... the wireless connection is very unreliable when some security settings are used on your wireless router. Disable all security, make sure the router is broadcasting SSID and try to connect. If this works then try WEP security - it is not very secure but this player just does not work with TKIP or AES.

I had the same problem straight out of the box. Here is what I did to fix it.
1. Connected the player via wire to the router and updated to the latest firmware
2. Changed the encryption on my router to WPA / WPA2.
3. Enabled the wireless and entered my new pass code.
4. The setup completed without issue.

You first need a wireless router attached to you internet modem. Once that is up and running your Blu ray will work as advertised

I had a problem trying to connect to a wireless router, it would not accept my security code. This is what finally worked. First reset the BD-C6500 by press the stop button on the actual player ...do not try ane use the remote control it will not work. Next when you get to the setup part enter your wireless ESSID #...it is found on router....now when you get to enter your security code, mine was the WEP KEY # found on the router, you have to press the subtittle button on the remote control...right under the number 7...in order to change from numbers to letters to symbols. If you do not change it you will either enter all numbers,letters or symbols when it is press the numbers or letters or symbols will be highlighted so you know what you are entering . Hope this helps.

Well mine worked out of the box but after a firmware update it will no longer except my routers 26 digit security key I called and the rep. told me that it will no longer except the 26 digit key and now i have to go to the cable company to get a new wireless router am not very happy at this point.

I had the same issue the "Trick is to place the blu - ray next to the router" and connect it and setup it all up. Then you can power it down and move it to the location of where you want it and reconnect.

Knowing what kind of router you are using will be very helpful. On a modern Linksys/Cisco router, hitting the "quickset" button works very nicely when your Samsung device is set to look for the signal.

Yes? Is that an answer? What is meant by "browsing the internet"? I would say no, but you can use internet based services, or services using the internet, like youtube, netflix, facebook, provided you have the proper apps installed and configured.
If the other people answering "yes" meant actually something else, I'd love to know what they meant!

I would say NO. There is no internet browser built into the BD-C6500, and I have yet to see a "browser app". You can use several apps that stream data from the internet, such as NetFlix, Vudu, Blockbuster, Pandora, but you cannot access Hulu.

I have a PC attached to my HD TV to "browse" the internet including access to Hulu or streaming CNN and CNBC from sites like justin.tv. I have a wireless keyboard with a trackpad just like on a laptop to make this comfortable from acrosss the room.

No you can't. There is no web browser. However, you can use a variety of apps that are Internet based.

Did you plug the receiver in? Did you attach the speaker wire to the correct speaker terminals, red to red black to black.

There are 3 different audio options in the audio setup. Which one is appropriate depends on what you are watching and what type of receiver you are using. I found that if there was not audio for netflix streamed movies, I reset the audio to PCM and that provided sound. I have not yet figured out how to get surround sound from Netflix. May not be possible.

On your Samsung BD-C6500, go to Settings/Audio/PCM Downsampling. Make sure it is set to "Off". Having it set to "On" causes the BD-C6500 to try to convert 96Khz audio signals down to 48Khz, when your amplifier/receiver can apparently already handle 96Khz audio signals.

I am having the same problem, but it has only been since the latest update to the BD player. The PCM downsampling is already set to off so it isn't that. Every other device works just fine. I am running HDMI to a VSX-1020-K receiver. Again, the sound worked fine before the latest upgrade and it works fine through the XBOX.

I have had this same problem. I had to fast forward the netflix movie then sound came back. I don't understand why I had the problem, though.

I have experienced this same problem lately and I can tell you WHAT to do, just not WHY this is happening.
This works EVERY TIME to fix this problem.
If you're watching a DVD and then try to watch a Netflix movie, you won't have audio on Netflix.
TURN THE DVD PLAYER OFF.
That's it.
Then, turn your DVD player BACK ON.
Netflix will THEN have audio!!
Maybe Samsung and Netflix will get together and fix this problem. It's getting old.

Make sure the sound is set to be controlled by your stereo system rather than your TV. Check the volume controls on the TV to be sure.

Unfortunately the blu ray player loses activation frequently and you have to go back to Netflix to activate again. It's a pain. If i had known, I would have tried another brand blu ray.

You have to log into your Netflix account via the Internet, select activate a Netflix ready device and follow the prompts until it gives you the code.

When you select NetFlick it will conect with the service. Netflick will ask if you are a member, if you R it will give you an activation code. Fist you read the URL then you type in the address bar : www.netflix.com/activate then type in your new code.

just go to your blue ray and you will see the netflix ap go inthere try to make an account. then just follow instrutions because you are going to get a code which you are going to use later when you go to your computer. and when you're registering for netflix in your computer, it would ask you for the code that you got from netflix in your blue ray. just type it in and you will see movies instantly in your blue ray

The only recommended wireless adapter to use with both Samsung televisions and Blu-Ray players is the Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick adapter.

This player does not reliably work with advanced security settings on the router. The only way to get good performance is to turn security off or use WEP. AES works but results in lost connections and very slow video streaming performance.

This message is displayed during wireless setup but your player does support TKIP, the message will be removed shortly. Be sure to have your player updated to the latest firmware version avialable on samsung.com

Not all manufactures will have codes that are represented in the owners manual. We offer the codes for a large array of television manufacturers, and while we are able to offer a wide selection, not all manufacturers or all products will be available.

In this case this particular manufacturer is not supported, as codes are not available in the manual.

Turn player on. Push and hold the stop button (square icon) for more than 5 seconds. THis will take you to initial set up menu.

I found I could change language by going to the set-up function under settings.

Not all discs support the skipping of the trailers but, if they do, you can simply press the "Disc Menu" button.

Try pressing the "Skip forward" button >>| to skip each trailer. Can't skip all at once, but it's better than nothing.

Why do you want to do that?
Run it directly to your receiver to the TV or direct to your TV via HDMI.
Call your Motherboard manufacturer to see if it has full HDMI support, if not, ask them how do you then thus get it.

One would be able to use a PC as a DVR for multiple tvs if it was possible to use the BDC6500 as a Windows 7 Media Center extender. I have a friend who does this with his PC, 3 tvs and Xboxs as extenders. I have the same question. Perhaps Samsung could add this.

To add a device as an extender you need an 8 digit code provided by the manufacturer. Samsung would have to provide this.

You have to use the Share Manager software and indicate which folders on your drive you want to share. Only then will the 6500 have access to those folders when you select that drive. I just learned this yesterday when figuring out Share Manager. My satisfaction with it is far below expectations. Not sure my expectations were realistic, though. Samsung is not Microsoft, and this whole setup is not Plug and Play!

I did the same thing, only to find out this, you cant. As far as I know these bluray players are not compatible with the faster wireless speeds.

Go to a computer that is on your network...Click on the start tab (bottom left task bar)..enter cmd in the run box...this should bring up a black DOS screen..at the prompt on the DOS screen type ipconfig /all...

This should bring up a screen showing your network settings and you should see your gateway ip in these settings...

As an aside...the bd6500 should get this information automatically if your router is set to hand out addressess via DHCP...

Do you want to stream wired or wirelessly, well it doesn't matter you need a high speed internet connection and a router.

This usually occurs when the account wasn't fill with App Cash after signing up an account on samsung.com, since you have an existing ID just follow these steps:

•Go to www.samsung.com and select the Apps option at the top of the page.
•Once the page loads, scroll to the bottom right and click 'Refilling your App Cash'.
•Enter your user name and password on Log in page then click Log In
•Enter your credit card information and agree to the terms and conditions for using App Cash.
Remember: Credit Card is only necessary to purchase apps but for free apps you don't need to create an account, you can just simply download free apps through the Samsung Apps option in the Internet@TV menu.
•Select the amount of App Cash you'd like to purchase and an email receipt confirmation will be sent to your email address.

*Always remember, Samsung Apps is only available in 2010 Blu-ray and Home Theater Blu-ray players. Earlier models do not have this option and will not be receiving it due to hardware limitations.

Maybe you need a Samsung software upgrade.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with your Blu-ray player.

In most cases, you shouldn't have to set up a wireless connection every time you power on the player. If you're experiencing this, it may be possible that there is an issue with either the Blu-ray player itself, or there's a setting in your router or network that's not allowing the connection to go through until you do it manually.

You might try contacting the customer support of your routers manufacture to see if they can assist in helping you identify a setting that might be causing this. If that still doesn't help, then you might want to call 1-800-SAMSUNG to see if troubleshooting is available for your unit. In some rare cases, this could be an issue with the player itself that requires service.
