There is not an official streaming program supplied by Samsung that supports the Macintosh format at this time.

There may be programs available, however they would have to provide all the support for connectivity and streaming. (Try Serviio, TVersity or Twonky to name a few).

This model does not have wireless capabilities built-in.

Your Samsung Blu-Ray player requires a wired connection, or the Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick for wireless connectivity to your router.

LinkSticks can be obtained at many national retailers, online retailers and at the www.Samsungparts.com website. Parts can also be ordered directly from Samsung by calling 1-800-627-4368.

We appreciate your support of Samsung products and look forward to assisting you.

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid your representative was mistaken.

The cable company decides which code things are put into their remotes. If they choose five or 10 or 20 different Samsung codes, they would have to be the ones that assign a special code to enter the remote so that those codes can be used.

The cable company would need to assist you with either providing new code banks, or it may not be possible to use some Samsung products with that cable box. A new box may have more codes, and that can usually solve the problem.

One possible solution if a new cable box is not possible, would be a Logitech Harmony universal remote control. They do work with Samsung 2010 models of televisions and Blu-ray players, and the "300" model is typically under $50 at many retail stores. You can also check compatibility with your cable box and other devices at the www.Logitech.com website prior to purchasing to make sure that all of your devices are supported.

I realize that you were referred to us by your cable company, and while it's unfortunate that we can't help solve the problem, hopefully we can at least point you in the right direction and give you a solution.

The fact that Netflix can connect to the Network may not necessarily mean that your home network is allowing access to drives and other network functionality.

I'd recommend checking to see if you have firewalls enabled, or other protective measures that might allow data to be shared throughout the network.

Closed Captioning is usually referred to as "Subtitles" on DVDs and Blu-ray discs, and will appear on most (however, not all) disc titles.

You may need to select the "Subtitles" option and change the setting to "ON" by going into the Language Menu of the DVD.

Choose English, or your preferred language, and the words should be able to appear on the screen as the movie plays.

Question

How can I update firmware for a Blue Ray via my tv?

I was wondering if it were possible for me to update firmware for my blue ray (Model BD-C5500/XAA) via my TV (version/model SX06/LN46A650A1FXZA). I was asking because my blue ray has only a LAN port and no USB port. The TV however has a USB port. I live in an area with limited internet service, landline only - and the satellite option is so not worth the cost. I have a cell phone with which I tether off of to get internet service. I also have a broad band device that I can use. It was suggested by a "big box" employee that I would not be able to use a Samsung LAN device to do updates via either one of my internet options (tethering off my phone or the broad band) because it would take too long for the updates to go through. If this is indeed true I was wondering if it were possible to use the TV USB port to update the firmware on my Blue Ray?

Replacement parts can be obtained by contacting the Samsung parts department at 1-800-627-4368, or by ordering directly from the www.Samsungparts.com website.

If this is a new unit, a remote should have come in the box. You may want to speak to your retailer about the situation to see if they can assist. We may be able to assist at 800-SAMSUNG, however we would have to order the part which may take time. Speaking with your retailer may give you a quicker solution.

Any 1GB or higher flash drive would be compatible to complete a firmware update.

With the movie, "Avatar", there is a message that appears noting that a firmware update might be necessary, but it is not necessarily telling you that the movie will not play.

When you come upon the screen that suggests that a firmware update may be necessary, try fast forwarding or skipping to the next chapter. In many cases, this will allow you to go directly to the movie titles menu.

Even with the latest and compatible firmware installed, the screen will still pop up, and this has caused confusion in the past, particularly when people have just updated the firmware.

Question

internet@tv not working

internet@tv worked on initial setup, netflix also was set up. the next day when turned on and internet@tv chosen, i got a downloading message that literally ran all night, 10+ hours. and that did not seem to do anything, as it still does not connect and goes right back to "downloading". the internet connection is fine, i have it on Ethernet direct wired and all the connectivity tests on the bd player check out. i can check for firmware etc.. i have tried to hold the off button down for 15 seconds+ but as it is a "touch" button as opposed to a actual mechanical button that pushes in and can be held, it is not seeming to do anything. question is, how do i fix this short of returning the player to the store?

If you still continue to experience difficulty, I would recommend contacting the Samsung customer service center, and speaking to one of our chat agents at the following link:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/

Or you can also call them directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG.

We appreciate your support of Samsung products, and we look forward to assisting you.
