Looking for Answers about samsung Wi-Fi Ready Blu-ray Disc™ Player?

contact customer service 800 number. they will get your address and mail an update cd. they said there is a problem with the server not releasing the most current firware update. this will take nine business days.

I recently purchased the same model Blu-ray Player, and had the same "red screen" message when trying to play the Avatar Blu-ray movie disc. To download the latest Firmware for the U.S. version of the Player:
1. On the Blu-Ray Player itself, verify the version of Firmware that you have now. From the On-screen menu, go to "Settings", scroll down to Support, then to Software Upgrade to see your Current Version.
2. Make note of your Current Version so as to verify that the new Firmware version is for your model and version of Player. For example, if it starts with "BSP-C5500WWB", you want to make sure that your Firmware upgrade file has the same naming.
3. Go to the Samsung Main Page on the Internet, and click on the Support option at the top of the page.
4. Scroll down slightly and select "Blu-ray & DVD Players".
5. A smaller window appears for you to select "Bluray Players".
6. The next window frame will fill with the model numbers. Choose the BD-C5500/XAA if that is your model number and click Select.
7. The next screen confirms your model number. Click on "Get Downloads" to see what is available.
8. At the Download Center, scroll down to see that for your model there will be User Manuals and Firmware to select. Click on the "Firmware" tab.
9. The first item is the actual Firmware upgrade. The next two items are Guides on how to install the Firmware upgrade depending on whether you choose the USB Flash Drive method or the Burn-to-CD method.
10. Decide on which method you feel more comfortable doing, then click on the Adobe PDF symbol to download to read and print the appropriate Guide so you know what to do.
11. Click on the Zip symbol next to the Firmware File to begin the download process. Create a folder to have the file located where you can find it later.
12. The Firmware file size is approx. 61MB in size, so it may take some time to download, depending on your broadband speed.
13. The file arrives in compressed "Zip" format. Once fully downloaded, you will need to unzip this file to be able to use. Hopefully you can right-click on the file name and see options to accomplish this. Try to save the unzipped file in the same folder that you are using.
14. The unzipped file should be named similar to your Current Version of Firmware as noted above in Step 2, with a higher number at the end. The file extension should be "RUF". If none of these fit the naming for your downloaded unzipped file, DO NOT USE as it may cause damage to your Player's operation if installed!
15. Copy the unzipped RUF file to a USB Flash Drive, or use software on your PC to select the RUF file and create a CD-R with this file only. (I did the create and burn a CD-R method).
16. Take the USB Flash Drive or CD-R disc to your Blu-ray Player (with your TV on to watch), and follow your instructions received from Step 10 above to install the Firmware upgrade to your Player.
17. Be patient with this process and do not interrupt! It takes a few minutes to accomplish this Firmware upgrade.
18. After the last Power Off, remove the disc or flash drive, and then Power On your Player.
19. Review that the Firmware upgrade was installed by re-visiting your Current Version settings as in Step 1 above.
20. Once verified that the upgrade was successful, load up your Avatar Blu-Ray disc to see if it works. You may still get a "black screen" message regarding an update, but it should proceed to the Movie Disc Menu in a few seconds.
21. Prepare to be WOW'ed!!

That's the link I was given by tech support just a minute ago. I'm downloading now and will see if it'll do the trick. The website kept taking me in circles.

The model of Samsung blu-ray player I have was not on your list of players. My Samsung blu-ray player model # is HT-BD2ET/xAA.
When I try to play the Avatar extended version blu-ray disc, it will not play-all other blu -ray discs play ok.
I called in Jan.2011 and was told that Samsung was aware of the problem and a fix would be available shortly.
I called again on March 2,2011 to see if the fix was available and no one heard of such a thing. In the meantime, I asked for and received a new firmware disc version 1.7-Avatar still does not play.
I am now returning the Avatar disc set.
Was there a fix for this Avatar problem and if so ,please send me the required firmware.

their are certain features on the avatar disc that require 2mb of storage that could be the problem you are having try to play the version without movie IQ

Go to the support link, click on type of device, model information and you will be provided with links to download the updates you need. If you device is connected to the internet you can use the main menu and set up your unit to update automatically.

Make sure you update your profile & are signed up for Samsung e-mail subscription service. They will automatically send you e-mails anytime there is a firmware update to!

Is it connected to your router? To connect with any computer on your network you need samsung pc share manager installed on the computer you want to share files with.

I had the same problem - broadcast was disabled, security setup, 5GHz was the only bandwidth for N only.
I spent 2 hours trying everything. Since other media player was working find with WAP, I knew that WAP is working fine. I reset to factory settings and verified that WAN adapter makes connection - success. Then, step by step I changed security, bandwidth, protocol and other settings testing WAN adapter connection after every change. Once everything was working fine, I disabled advertising and WAN adapter still was able to see WAP and make connection.

I had this happen also, however it didn't happen until I had already updated to the latest software. I tried again several times, it fianlly just stopped giving me this message, and said you have the latest software avalible.

The BD-C5500 is by default a wired connection for Internet@TV and other online applications. If you'd like to make the BD-C5500 a wireless device, you'll need the Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick.

I have the same problem, even after inserting Samsung Wireless LAN Adaptor (Model WIS09ABGN2) in my BD-C5500 Blu-Ray. Setup instructs me to "... verify that a Samsung Wireless Adaptor is Connected" and does allow me to proceed further.

This is now working reliably for me. I'm unsure of exactly why, but here is my guess.

This issue was occuring because each time I started up the Blu-Ray player, I was clicking on the Netflix icon before clicking on internet@TV. I believe that clicking on the top Netflix icon before starting up the Internet@TV interface caused the player to think that it was always the first time accessing Netflix.

Now, when I start up the Blu-ray player, I first click on Internet@tv, the system connects, and then I click on Netflix.

It has been working without issues since then, so that is my best suggestion for a fix for anyone else thinking they have the "Netflix activation bug".

This happened to me the second time I tried to use Netflix. I've used it many times since without having to reactivate.

I find if I play a DVD and then try to go to Netflix , my audio drops out. I have to go into Pandora, and that clears the audio. Then I can play Netflix with audio.

Hope Samsung can fix this.

I have an issue where the Netflix sound will only play out of the analog ports instead of the hdmi. It happens a couple times a week. I have reset the player, but it still happens. The only way I have found to get the sound to work again out of the HDMI is to open the "Texas Holdem" app. This application seems to redirect the sound back to the HDMI cable. Netflix seems to not be setting the audio ports correctly itself.

Netflix is 'trying to steer away from the main focus being the DVD's to more streaming. So, they aren't making it available except from their site on the pc.

There is not a way to adjust the buffering of a streaming movie. The reason that the player may buffer could be due to network traffic, neighborhood network speeds, or could even be dependent on the server from which you are streaming from. At this time, for most of the apps, there's no way to adjust the buffer stream.

More than likely, this means you are not connected to the access point. you need to ensure you have entered the SSID correctly (it is case sensative) and that you are choosing the correct security model (WPA, WPA2-PSK).

Also, check to ensure your router is acting as a DHCP server. Otherwise, Auto on your Samsung will not work.

Currently you will only be able to access your Netflix queue with titles you have saved online through your PC. However, we hope to change this very soon and will be do so in the coming month. Stay tuned!

Not all manufactures will have codes that are represented in the owners manual. We offer the codes for a large array of television manufacturers, and while we are able to offer a wide selection, not all manufacturers or all products will be available.

In this case this particular manufacturer is not supported, as codes are not available in the manual.

Check to see if your firewall is preventing you from connecting.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having difficulty getting audio files to play, and unfortunately I think the salesperson was incorrect with their information.

Page 13 of the owner's manual notes that the music files that are supported are MP3 and WMA files. You might try loading some of your MP4 files onto a thumb drive to see if your music is able to play with the AllShare options, however the official music file support for streaming is limited to MP3 and WMA.
