There is not a specific cycle designed for rubber backed rugs, so I would suggest following the product's instructions. Please keep in mind, however, the importance of using HE detergent, and using it in moderation, since excessive suds can cause errors and leaking. I would also recommend washing in cold water to ensure the rubber is not damaged by heat, adding an extra rinse if the rug is particularly thick and fluffy, and you may need to add a few towels to the load to help the load remain balanced during the spin cycle, as well. What you are describing is normal operation. The reason the unit cycles back and forth and pauses, is to ensure all the clothes get clean. Front loader washer use far less water then conventional washers. Front load washers push the clothes through the water, not the water through the clothes. If the washer was programmed to spin in one direction for 15 minutes, and 15 minutes in the other direction, the clothes would not come out clean. Because of the small amount of water, the clothes must be frequently repositioned to ensure uniformity of the cleaning process.
