LN40B630 vs LN40B640.. What's the difference?

They seem almost identical. What does the 640 have that the 630 doesn't
(or vice versa)? What's the real difference and how does it relate
to the day to day performance of the TV?

Question

LN52B750 vs LN52B610

I am considering one of the two above tv's. My first question is:
is there any diifernece in the core part of the tv between the B610 vs the B630/B640 or is it just that the B610 is for box stores.
Second,
is the B750 that significantly different over the B610 to justify paying more. I don't really care about the USB support, Internet support, widgets, as I have all of that through a Xbox 360 that will be hooked up to the tv.

For your first question, the internals of the B610 is about the same as the internals of the other 6 series sets, only the B610 is only sold in the warehouse stores and the B610 series does lack some other features, such as the internet content aggregation feature, Infolink. As far as the significant differences between the B610 and the B750, I would say that it all boils down to what features you really want in a TV. As you mention in your question, the internet support and extended usb support would not be available in the B610, but if these are features that you do not need due to your life style, then I would suggest sticking with the B610.

Question

Why won't TV retain selected channels?

I've used the Plug&Play feature to program channels that I receive over the cable connection I have, after I turn TV off, the HD channels won't play. But if I re-run the Plug&Play feature again they show up. Why won't the LCD TV retain these channels during shut down?

I'm sorry you are having an issue with your channel retention. I could suggest a few different courses of action. Either you can update the firmware if one is available, make sure all your channel settings are correctly set (please refer to the channel programing section of your user's manual for this information), or call 800-SAMSUNG if the issue persists. Calling service will probably be your best bet since they will give you a live answer to your inquiry.

Question

I have a LN52A650 HDTV. I have it on its stand on top of a stable, made for HDTV, TV Stand.

I am not interested in mounting the HDTV onto the wall, but I would like to "secure" the HDTV to the wall so that it can not be accidentally knocked over and off the stand. Any recommendations?

Although the unit may not come with a wall securing piece of hardware, there are several other ways to secure the unit down so that it can not be accidentally knocked over. Although, officially, I can not suggest any fixes, you can perform a google search, which may yield some solutions.

From the information I have, any Samsung TV purchased within the North American Territories will only support English, Spanish and French language packs. Unfortunately, a firmware update may not be the answer to this since firmware updates are mainly made available when a detrimental issue with the TV's has been discovered. The reasoning for this is due to strict controls over NA units being traded across the blackmarket, and other regulatory controls that are out of Samsung's hands. I hope this information has been found to be useful.

SRS TruSurround HD is a robust multichannel system that provides an enhanced surround sound listening experience unlike any other offering for a two speaker playback environment. Built upon the foundation of its predecessor, SRS TruSurround XT, SRS TruSurround HD not only processes up to 6.1 channels of audio to create amazing surround sound over two speakers, but it also optimizes bass performanc and offers rich dialog clarity that's both clear and distinct.

Question

PIP will only tune in analog stations

I own a LN52A6501F. Prior to the HDTV conversion, I was able to receive PIP for analog stations. Now I can't review any over the air stations (HDTV)with PIP. The TV is able to scan and receive HDTV signals but the PIP will not work with the TV's tuner. The PIP shows only whole number stations, wereas the HDTV stations are shown as 6-2 or 10-3 etc. Will there be a software upgrade to correct the PIP problem?

Hi there, I'm sorry for the confusion on this issue. Let me try and clear it up for you. In the TV's manual, it should state that PiP is only compatible with an analogue signal. However, many of the current 2008 and 2009 models can still display a limited digital signal. Unfortunately, there are no firmware updates that can unlock a hardware limitation. From what I understand, all PiP systems, regardless of manufacturer, are having issues with the digital transition.

There most certainly is. If you go to the support page on your products web page on Samsung.com, then click on the firmware version link it self and not the download link, it will direct you to a list of issues that specific firmware addresses.

Yes, smooth would be considered the High option on the Auto Motion Plus feature. Technically, you will be seeing 240Hz at all times, however the settings allow for different signal processing. Smooth should display the image at the full 240Hz with the highest blur and judder reduction.
